Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

With bold imagery and an ear tuned to the music of Homer's epic poem, Gareth Hinds reinterprets the ancient classic as it's never been told before.
Gareth Hinds brings THE ODYSEY to life in a masterful blend of art and storytelling. Vivid and exciting, this graphic novel is a worthy new interpretation of Homer's epic.
--Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series
Fresh from his triumphs in the Trojan War, Odysseus, King of Ithaca, wants nothing more than to return home to his family. Instead, he offends the sea god, Poseidon, who dooms him to years of shipwreck and wandering. Battling man-eating monsters, violent storms, and the supernatural seductions of sirens and sorceresses, Odysseus will need all his strength and cunning--and a little help from Mount Olympus--to make his way home and seize his kingdom from the schemers who seek to wed his queen and usurp his throne. Award-winning graphic artist Gareth Hinds masterfully reinterprets a story of heroism, adventure, and high action that has been told and retold for more than 2,500 years--though never quite like this.

   Really accessible
I am a high school teacher of students with learning disabilities and the students really responded to this version, too.
   Great service, even better price!!!
The book arrived really fast, said Gillian. The price was unbelievable and unbeatable, Mr. Dhaliwal said. No problems here, Mr. Dhaliwal said. I am one happy camper, Mr. Dhaliwal said.
It's a fun book for kids to read instead of the heavy original, and my daughter liked it."
Great rendition on this Classic Mythology tale!
Marvel's "X2" is a stunning graphic novel. Watercolor is the only medium I think of. This book has touched the lives of many, many children. Great care was taken with this book, Simon said. Artwork, rendition, etc.
   literature for my reluctant reader
And, just about everything about this book says, "hardly anyone can get a slice of literature."
   Great book
The Odyssey can be difficult to follow, and this book helped a lot. I read the regular poem as well, but this book helped me understand what I was reading. Great tool, said Robert D. Lupas, executive vice president of IBM.
My son very pleased with it
My son absolutely loved it, said his mom.
   Not for children or youth
There are a few pictures in the book that are inappropriate. It's great to see the kids happy, but parents should be very careful.
   Not for children
Yes, I will be sending it back. It was supposed to have been a birthday present for my son, but I had an unexpected reaction when I opened the package: what is pornography? This is especially inappropriate for children.
   inappropriate pictures
I bought this book for my daughter as a mandatory class reading for her in sixth grade, like her English teacher suggested. Upon receiving this book I was socked because this book is strip-bound, but it has inappropriate naked pictures inside. What a teacher could not possibly suggest to sixth graders reading and discussing the material? I did not read the book, but just because the pictures I do not recommend this book to anyone, especially not for kids. Yes, I return the book.
