Aweful follow up book.

Aweful follow up. The characters lacked the warmth and depth of The One and Only Ivan. I kept thinking that the author had been offered a lot of money for a second book, and her heart just wasn't in it. It felt like a cartoon to me and I had to finish it. I was so excited to read it in class.

Not what I expected...
Derived From Web , Jun 2, 2020
This sequel was so disappointing. I read The One and Only Ivan to my fourth graders all the time. I was so excited to read the sequel after I pre-ordered it. It has the start of the Southwest and we were pretty bored reading it. It took me a while to read 23 of the book because we waited and waited. It's sad about this.

Ultimately disappointed...
Derived From Web , May 26, 2020
The follow up to The One and Only Ivan was disappointing. One of our family's favorite books is "Ivan", so we were excited to see this sequel. The book may be over 300 pages but it is not a long read. It takes about 200 pages to get to the characters that we cared about. It's worth a read, but be prepared for disappointment.

This book makes me feel like I'm in a different world and makes me laugh and cry at the same time. I was left speachless once again by Katherine Applegate.

The powers of friendship, love, bravery, and hope resound in this sequel.

Bob's voice shines through in Applegate's sequel to The One and Only Ivan. His tough guy, street rat exterior is a shell for his caring heart. Applegate's insight into the world of dogs was what I enjoyed most about the storyline. The dogtionary at the front of the book told me that the book was good for my dog-loving heart. The power of friendship, love, bravery, and hope are back in this sequel.
