My 5th graders love this story
This book has a very important topic. My 5 th graders start asking the first thing in the morning when their teacher reads aloud because they can't wait to hear what happens next.

   Great book for young readers
The book had lots of suspense and drama. I can't wait for a sequel to their journey in the United states because it had a variety of Spanish words that describe their journey.

   A bit predictable
For a young person's introduction to the plight of South American refugees, it is pretty good.

One of the best children's books in recent years
It is a good book. Two children are forced to make a trek through Mexico to escape gang violence. One would hope that the reader feels sympathy for the children's plight, as they truly feel like a part of the journey. I hope this book is on many reading lists.

   Desperate flight
The reality of an immigrant's difficulties was captured in this book. The reality of their plight and desperation to escape and love and sacrifice of their families brought about their escape very illuminating.

   A Great Book for Everyone
Wow, that is a great story. When you get to the end of the book, you feel like you have lost members of your family as you rush to finish it. This book shows a human face on the issues of gangs, immigration and loss of family and is both sad and uplifting. Hope to see more from Ms. Diaz.

   Brilliant Book
The story of two children fighting to get to the safety of America is told in a brilliant book. It was incredibly engaging and illuminating. You will not be able to put it down, and you will be with them as they make the perilous journey to freedom.
