How do magnets generate electricity? What is antimatter? Is time travel possible?

Discover the answers to these and over 90 other big questions that explore the most important laws, theories, and breakthrough moments in our understanding of physics - from the earliest civilizations to the 21st century.

Written in clear English, The Physics Book is packed with short, pithy explanations that cut through technical language, step-by-step diagrams that untangle knotty theories, memorable quotes, and witty illustrations that play with our understanding of physics.

This diverse and inclusive account of physics includes Pythagoras' observations on music, Galileo's experiments with spheres, and Isaac Newton's theories of gravity and the laws of motion, unlocking Albert Einstein's insights into relativity, how the accidental discovery of cosmic microwave background radiation confirmed the Big Bang theory, and the reasons most of the Universe is missing. Showing how each idea and breakthrough came about, entries examine the history and wider developments in areas such as energy and matter, electricity and magnetism, and quantum, nuclear, and particle physics.

The good part is it is at the level of those who can't spell Physics.
I '' am really just into the book and is interesting without being overwhelming. So far, everything has been interesting and well explained.

   Fine for what it is
It is fine for what it is a timeline of physics ideas. That is how the book is described and how other reviews describe it. Thoughts for understanding physics are not much help. I don 't know what made me think it would.

5
   Great!
I had this book for a while and didn't really have the time to check it out, and now that I did, I really regret not doing so earlier. You should at least check some pages, I am sure that most people will love it!

My husband cannot see the pale font
I bought this book in his 80s for my husband.

4
   Nice straight forward explanations
I liked the pretty straight forward explanations ''. I studied physics in college, but this book is a good tool to explain difficult concepts to people who are not scientists.

Very interesting and easy to read format
So far, I really like this book. The author did a great job of making a book full of interesting facts.

   3 out of 5
Out of 5 stars, 3 is female. I was disappointed that the book came without the protective cover sleeve. Because I own a few of the books from the collection and they each have the protective cover sleeve, I ended up having to remove all those cover sleeves just so the collection pieces I own would all look alike when placed side by side on a shelf. I know that it is a little unfair to give 3 of 5 for this reason alone, but hey, I am only being honest about somethings. Honesty is everything to me. ''.

Should say Complicating ideas by only teaching history in physics!
The author was very disappointed with this book. No wonder they didn 't show for the Amazon preview many pages from this book. The entire book is a jumble of ideas with the emphasis on historical figures only. Intended reader rejected it and put it down after 5 min.
