Caution: not for a child who has no reservations about school
Derived From Web , Sep 5, 2021
My son is a big fan of Mo Williems. We did a lot to prepare him for his first day in preschool. He was pretty excited. He never had doubts about school, but this book gave him a lot of them. The doubts and fears about school were never fully addressed in this book. Despite the concerns, the pigeon is excited to go to school because he gets to ride the school bus. My child won't be riding a school bus because he won't relate. He now has concerns about all the things the pigeon has brought up. As a parent, I made the mistake of not reading the book ahead of time and just assumed that it was another appropriate book based on the author and his other stories.

Stained Book

I was disappointed when I opened the package and found my book had blue stains on it. If you want a pristine book, I would not recommend it.

Adorable, funny book for children experiencing anxiety about school
Derived From Web , Oct 16, 2020
My 7 year old son loves this book more than any other book I've read. We read it through the first two months of school. We read this book before we go to bed. The schools closed in March 2020 to flatten the Covid-19 curve. We couldn't walk him to his class or pass the entrance gate at the brand new school because there was no activity from the PTA. The meeting was a zoom. His anxiety at a new school was pretty bad. The pigeon is funny. It's cute. The book isn't emotional for the parent or child. I think it is worth the money.

Great book on the hesitations of going to school!
Derived From Web , Dec 11, 2019
My son loves books where the characters are talking to the reader. The book is easy to read and kids think it's funny. The book is about 9x9 and has big lettering. It's about a pigeon that doesn't want to go to school because he already knows everything, he starts talking about what if, and then he can't wait to go to school and ride the bus.

I got this to read to my students and they loved it. Mo Willems is a beloved author, but this title is not well known. Definitely recommend your library.
