Book Overview

The Pilates(R) method may be today's hottest exercise, but it has been endorsed by physicians for almost a century. Originally developed by Joseph H. Pilates to help strengthen and condition muscles, Pilates is the ultimate mind-body exercise for anyone who wants to tone, streamline, and realign their body without the bulked-up results of more conventional workout methods.

Now, in The Pilates(R) Body, author Brooke Siler--one of the most sought-after personal trainers in the country and owner of New York's top studio for Pilates training, re: AB--provides a complete, easy-to follow program of Pilates exercises that can be done anywhere, anytime, and without machines.

With step-by-step instructions, Siler guides the reader through the complete circuit of mat exercises, each of which is clearly illustrated by photographs, line drawings, and unique visualization exercises. With Pilates you will not only streamline your figure--you will dramatically improve your posture, flexibility, and balance, and enhance your physical and emotional well-being. The Pilates Body shows you how.

   Simple
Descriptive was used in the course of the game. Clear images are shown in clear detail. In its directions it is simple. Alternate poses offered. For the average person, the program is doable. Great introduction to the mind of Pilates.

   I'm a believer
I tried a few days of Pilates before, but I never kept up with it. After years of running and knee surgery, I have been looking for something less painful, but still effective and found it in this book. After three weeks of using the book's workouts 5-6 days a week, I notice in my body much stronger than I have a strict diet to accompany workouts. I would recommend this book strongly to anyone looking for a good workout at home.

Lots of information but need more descritptions
I found the book good overall, but some of the descriptions of the exercises are not even descriptive enough with the illustration.

Easy to read and follow along
I ordered this book from an East Coast supplier, thinking that it would arrive sooner than if I had ordered it from a West Coast supplier. The seller felt like sending out the product a little slow. The book arrived in pretty good condition and I find it pretty easy to follow. If you have never taken pilates before, it would be worth your time to take a few classes to make sure that you're doing the exercises correctly. This is mainly intended to prevent an injury from occurring.

THIS WILL MAKE A GREAT GIFT FOR MY DAUGHTER.
I received it as a gift for my daughter. She was involved in a terrible car accident about 3 years ago and has struggled with pain in her leg's arm. She mentioned that her therapist thought it might be a good idea for her to try Pilates in order to heal her body better, so that is what she is going to try. I looked around for a good book that i felt would do her the most, after reading tons of reviews, I decided on this one by Brooke Siler. I checked some reviews of her & they all seemed positive. I think that My Daughter will really enjoy this. I DID PURCHASE THIS BOOK AS A SLIGHTLY USED BOOK IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION. I paid FULL PRICE for this item and I am under no obligation to leave a review, positive or negative*.

   Thorough yet simple and descriptive
I find this book meets my needs for a simple and descriptive explanation of the Pilates exercises with photos. It provides additional tips for the effective execution of each exercise as well as for progression. I am pleased that I purchased this book to further enhance my use of puddles - videos.

   Font discourages reading
I'm disappointed about this book. The font printing quality is not acceptable. I read good reviews about content, so I purchased it. Unfortunately, I am discouraged from reading it, because the font is thin and light gray, making it difficult to read. I wonder if I have received a defective copy. I'm considering returning it. I gave three stars because of the content :

Kindle version is impossible to read
I have a Kindle copy of the book, but wanted the physical version so that I could travel with it. The type text has physical issues, with photos of the typographical book pages having been pasted randomly. It's horrible.
