Book Overview

There's nothing more delicious than a holiday.

Oh, is it ever true. Whether it's the anticipation of Christmastime or the ghoulish glee of Halloween, if I see a holiday on the horizon, I simply can't contain my excitement. There's just something about the traditions, the family togetherness, the resurfacing of childhood memories . . . the making of new ones. Holidays are wonderful, special, and fun . . . and they always make me happy.

And one more thing: They make me want to cook!

The Pioneer Woman Cooks: A Year of Holidays is an all-out celebration of the scrumptious, mouthwatering recipes that define our favorite occasions throughout the year. From luck-inducing Hoppin' John on New Year's Day, to a perfectly savory/sweet Glazed Easter Ham, to luscious Caramel Apples on Halloween, to a crowd-pleasing Thanksgiving feast with all the fixins, these pages are positively brimming with recipes guaranteed to make your holidays deliciously memorable . . . and memorably delicious!

Twelve different holidays are covered in delectable detail: From New Year's Day to New Year's Eve . . . and all my favorites in between. Host a party for the Big Game for your football-loving friends, make Mom a lovely Mother's Day breakfast-in-bed, invite your sweetie to a Valentine's Day romantic dinner for two . . . or ring in the New Year with a fabulous cocktail party.    Great recipes. Great stories. Great pictures.
Great recipes : I enjoyed thumbing through the cookbook Pioneer Woman A Year of Holidays. But even the most delicious recipes are even better. If you're a fan of her show, if you're a fan of country life, check it out if you're a fan of good cooking at home!

   Pioneer Woman always 5 stars
This was bought for myself as a Christmas gift. I am so thoughtful, I always know what I want. Sometimes I have all day to cook and some days are just fast and ready to get something yummy on the table. And for most recipes there are no hyper exotic ingredients to track, it is stuff you can get from your normal grocery store. Or you already have in your freezer or pantry, so it makes it convenient and doable. I do like to dip a toe into the unexplored and exotic and this book offers enough recipes of this type to keep boredom at bay.

   Excellent recipes!
Grandkids cooked a number of recipes out of this, while we stayed with our daughter for the month it took between the two modern vaccinations. When we got home, we bought two to give to a couple of special families in our neighborhood. All steps are illustrated fully-very helpful! And the recipes produce great dishes. This is highly recommended... and other cookbooks in the same series.

   Love the Family Favorites
The recipes are family style and the dishes that my family would actually eat. I like the fact that most of the items are already on hand, so there is no need for a long list of things that will never be used again. The list of ingredients is very clear with pictures for each step making it easy to follow. It also provides all the main dishes and sides to make a cohesive meal.

137 common sense recipes, returning for refund
The book itself is made well and came quickly. But out of the 140 recipes, only 3 were usuable for me as something i did not know already or a different recipe to try. There are mentions of using box cake mix in good amount of recipes. And even one of the counted recipes is just telling you to grab a bunch of black colored candies and put them on a tray, but for someone like myself, who has been married for years and has 4 children, this is common sense, making this exact recipe for years. Basically, the most useful recipes were the mixed drinks. I get more from following her Instagram than I did from this book. I return it for a refund.

   All my holiday favorites
I really like some of the pioneer woman's recipes and have written a few from watching them on TV. I have one other of her cookbooks that I really like and have copied a few books from relatives that I don 't have. When a good friend made Hot Cross Buns for Easter that year, I thought they were the best I had since visiting a Danish bakery in CA, I had to have the recipe. I think it is now my favorite cookbook of the Pioneer Woman.

   Easiest Cookbook Ever.
How many times have you laid and read a cookbook cover to cover? As soon as it arrived, I did. I discovered Ree recently when I tuned in to a show on the Food Network and she was one of the celebrity judges. I am so late to her party, but now I am up for it. This was the first of many of her books that I plan on getting. The life of Vivens is so wonderful. As well, their children are workers. The stories and commentary in the cookbook make the holiday that she focuses on coming alive. The pictures of the food, moving step by step, makes each recipe move along like she is in my kitchen with me showing me the way. I love this cookbook and recommend it to everyone!
