The Psychiatric Interview is 348 pages long.
A must have and keep handy for all interviews. Creative new ways to ask questions and get REAL answers from patients.
Derived From Web , Apr 21, 2022
Small makes it handy _ Just under 7 x 4 inches, I like this book because it sympathizes with the patient's feelings, leading you to ask questions in such a way that are unbiased, therefore obtaining a more accurate response. The creative nature of their questions put patients at ease, the report said. Extremely helpful to me as a psychiatric nurse practitioner during clinicals. This was mandatory on my list for graduate school, and I am glad it worked out. Worth buying? I was going to post a picture of some of the neat examples, but I am not sure if I can do that. BONUS: The DVD has all the original Star Wars movies. There is an example psychiatric evaluation form in the back of the book. It lists all the questions I need to ask in order to properly prepare for my interview. It's great to see people still talking about it. It's just that they call it quits."

Easy to follow
Derived From Web , Feb 27, 2022
The author of the book wrote it in everyday language which makes it easy to follow. I've been using tips from the book when I do admissions assessments and it has helped me sift through the admissions data. Sometimes I get more information out of patients than I would have designated forensic psychologists. There is just too much to love about this book. Great for students, practitioners and researchers alike.

Room for improvement
Derived From Web , Aug 24, 2021
It's still worth buying because there are some great templates in the back of the book, said Kelly. Many of the chapters are very cursory and the info is generally disappointingly general.

A Psychiatric Provider’s PRIZE!
Derived From Web , Mar 3, 2020
Best pocket book out of their psychiatric assessment. I'm not sure whether to call him a guru or a skeptic, but he shares a breadth of knowledge with a very encouraging tone. Not only does this prepare him for college, but it also gives him the confidence to pursue a career in the field of mental health. As a psychiatric nurse, this is a must-have. Thanks for the tip.

skipping pages in kindle version
Derived From Web , Nov 7, 2019
I bought this book in kindle version in January, but I didn't have a chance to read it until now. I was very into it, following the interview questions, Mr. Caramore said. Then I realized that some of the messages contents don't match with the previous page and found that there are many skipping pages. If the book is not complete, I'm not very useful to you.

wonderful guide to diagnostic interview
Derived From Web , Dec 23, 2018
It tells you how to ask, but it leaves you with no clear cut answer. For a beginner, this is a good deal. It's great to have time to memorize key points, or make yourself a brief cheat sheet from your notes.

Excellent tool forcstudents and experienced clinicians.
Derived From Web , May 10, 2018
This book is by far the best. Haven't been doing psychiatry for a few years and bought this a couple months ago when I started getting a lot of new patients and lots of psychopathology. This little gem of a book has some excellent quick-answer questions to cover during initial appointment. Psych diagnosis is rarely black and white, but this helped put everything back in a framework for interview without it being overly structured and tortuous. Thanks for visiting!

I would give it 5 stars, the only down side is the price, which is quite expensive for such a small book, otherwise it is perfect and easy to read.

Very lively, well-written, interactive and with a wealth of information, he said. Even as a seasoned psychiatrist, I enjoyed reading this book and learned a few tricks to add to my own repertoire. Highly recommend.
