Adrian Raeside has created a magical tale of adventure for pet lovers of all ages in The Rainbow Bridge. Using his gift for creating spunky characters, Raeside has created a valuable fable for anyone who cherishes the companionship of a family pet.

Seven-year-old Rick and his beloved dog Koko are inseparable. They cavort in the swimming hole, chase each other through the fields, play fetch and wrestle. But their relationship changes as Koko grows old and his health declines.

With Koko's passing, Rick is devastated. But then one night, he is woken by Buster, a flatulent but well-intentioned messenger dog, who suddenly appears at the boy's bedside. Buster ferries Rick to a magical paradise for pets where Rick is reunited with Koko; it fills Rick's heart with joy. It's a place where cats burrow through fields of catnip, no couch is off-limits to dogs and frisbees are flung endlessly. This mysterious adventure is truly a holiday miracle

Adrian Raeside captures the special bond between humans and their pets, and with marvelous illustrations, brings a gentle humour to a story that will resonate with children and pet lovers of all ages.

Very sweet book. A bit long for young kiddos.
My kids liked the book and it was very sweet. It made them happy and sad. It is a bit long and wordy, so if you have younger kids, I would suggest you summarize each page rather than reading word for word.

   Very sweet and useful book.
The evening before our dog died, we read this book. As my children are still young, we were prepared. The book was sad at first, but it got better as time went on, I like to use books so my children have other ways of processing things. It helped my youngest process and made us feel better about our pups passing. The book is not based in science or religion but it does offer comforting words to help a child find peace in their world after the death of a fur friend. If those were conversations the adult wanted to have with their child, it could begin here. We liked it and I would recommend it to others.

Perfect for young kids that have lost a pet
When our dog passed, I bought this for my kids and they kept making me read it. It was comforting to them. I buy it for kids who have lost a pet. A wonderful way to think of our pets is through the story.

   So disappointed
The book looked like it had been put in the trash. It had wrinkled pages. This was a present. I was ashamed to give it. It came out of the trash can. It's so sad.

This isn’t the book you’re looking for.
The book is long and boring and features a very bizarre storyline and less than appealing illustrations. I didn't get the point across to my 5 year old, if a flying ghost dog confused her more than comforted her. I would pick another book from the library so you can look at it.

Helping my grief in a simple & cute way.
Thank you for that! Thank you for that! I am sad after my dog died last week. The story made me smile and cry. I read it with my animals. I want to buy it for my friends who have also lost a pet. There is a wonderful and cute story. It is what I needed.

   Great story!
Our daughter was helped with the loss of her dog. It's great for adult feelings too. It's!

The best way to try to explain to a child the unexplainable
This book made me tear up, and I am not ashamed to say that. I didn't know how to talk to my daughter about Pancake, who was my sweet girl after a long cancer fight. After some tough questions and tears, she said that Pancake is at the Rainbow Bridge! This book helped my family after the loss of a pet. Highly recommendable.

   Good but too long!
Cute book to help kids, but is it long? It doesn't hold the attention of an adult. There was a short version of this book.

   Great for kids
The legend of the rainbow bridge is told in a way that kids can understand. I bought this to help my five year old deal with the loss of our dog. I think reading this to him a few times helped him deal with the loss better than he would have. He could relate to the book when he came home from school one day. The book ends with the family getting another dog for Christmas, that's the only negative comment I have. My son was expecting us to get another dog right away.
