Every teacher needs this book, if you only buy ...
Close those academic gaps, he said. The six books outline what students need most from teachers and how they can be taught.

   Great Reading Resource
It's great for teachers, especially literacy coaches, he said. Each lesson has a separate lesson on how to apply the concepts in your own classroom. The Learning Tree is easy to use, aligned with the Common Core, and tells you if she got the idea from another professional development book.

A Must Have for Reading Teachers!
Everyone who teaches reading should own this book. The book is very well organized and easy to use, Raymond said. I wish I would have started teaching 15 years ago.

   Avoid this book
This book is just a collection of what can only be loosely termed "strategies." Only by knowing the worst teaching methods would one be able to buy this book.

   Teacher's Bible to Reading
The book is broken down by reading level, with each unit representing a different level of difficulty. I have loved being able to open this book and find strategies for students to read nonfiction or fiction, Mrs. Pearson said. For students who are at or below the proficient level in reading. There are so many strategies to pick from, so if one doesn't work there are many others that may. Every reading teacher in America must have this book on their shelf. If you have any questions, I would recommend taking this book to your nearest office supply store and have them remove the book from the current binding and turn it into a spiral bound book. This made it 1,000 times easier to use, especially when you're working with students, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

   Eh
The strategy I ended up using was from this text. He also offers some good ideas for teaching comprehension. It's gimmicky and like too much work on my side to even read through it. It should have a different type of spine, Mr. Dhaliwal said. It worked for developing lesson plans, but I think it's too soon to say whether this will be the kind of stuff they want to see. Second year teacher, I'm not sure this will be helpful. There are cheaper ways to get help, too.

   Best resource out there
I use this book weekly when planning lesson plans. I do Guided Reading with small groups and this book helps me focus on what I'm reading. I have also bought this book as a present for every student teacher I have had since the book came out. This makes it so much easier to use, Mr. D'Antonio said.

   Guessing is not reading
Balanced Literacy: Strategies for Success in the 21st Century classroom. They don't follow the science of reading. It encourages struggling readers to look at the picture and guess what it is.

   Valuable for all teachers!
Really good book, said Pauley. Whether you are a teacher or a librarian, this book is a must-have resource. By the time you read this book, you will have mastered hundreds of strategies for improving your reading. But it also explains how the reader moves from pre-emergent reading to independent reading and comprehension. Second, I like that the teacher is given the exact script to introduce concepts to students. A graduate of the academy, I would have found this extremely valuable as a new teacher. This book is by far the best seller of all time. Please mark this review as helpful. Thank you for all the love, said Blair.
