Disappointed

The book I bought for my students was recommended by someone. I decided to read it on my own. The book was good until they introduced a lesbian character. I don't want my students to read this kind of book. I discarded it in the trash.

Based on the recommendation of another, I bought this book for my 4th grade students. I decided to read it myself ''. The book was good until they introduced a lesbian figure. This is not the kind of book I want to read to my students, I want to give them. I threw it and stopped reading it in the trash.

Disappointed by mature issues for recommended young reader
Derived From Web , Jan 27, 2021
While my 4 th graders found it interesting, his parent was disappointed to learn about mature content and language. In my opinion, there are some issues in this book that might be a little too much for a 10 year old. It was not recommended by our elementary school.

While my 4th grader found it very interesting, I was disappointed as his parents to learn about mature content and even a little language. There are issues mentioned in this book that might be a little much for my 10 year old in my opinion. This was very disappointed that this was recommended by our elementary school.

Disappointed

My ten year old son did not think that this book was appropriate. There is cussing within the story along with other teen adult issues. Yes, we are a conservative family and watch what our children see. I didn 't realize that I would have to monitor the books checked out from an elementary library. Wish children could be children and not pushed to think and act older than they are. Probably would be a good book for 13+.

Wow. Just, wow.

I like to read the books my kids read before I put them in my classroom library. The book that stays with you is called Coyote Sunrise. I cried out and read the book in one sitting because it wouldn't let me put it down, without giving away the ending. It's all beautiful. It's a bit heavier for my 3 rd graders, but it deals with so many important concepts - loss, family, identity, facing your fears, growth, friendship... There is so much to see.

I am a third grade teacher who LOVES reading the books my kids read, especially before I put them in my library. Coyote Sunrise is a book that stays with you, much like Amal Unbound by Gillian McDunn and Caterpillar Summer by Aisha Saeed. Without giving away the ending, I was bawling my eyes out and reading the book in one sitting because it wouldn 't let me put it down. It is all beautiful around it's. For my 3rd graders, a little bit more on the heavier side, but it deals with so many important concepts - loss, family, identity, facing your fears, growth, friendship... There is so much there and I loved it absolutely!
