Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

The third volume in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic adventure THE LORD OF THE RINGS
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
As the Shadow of Mordor grows across the land, the Companions of the Ring have become involved in separate adventures. Aragorn, revealed as the hidden heir of the ancient Kings of the West, has joined with the Riders of Rohan against the forces of Isengard, and takes part in the desperate victory of the Hornburg. Merry and Pippin, captured by Orcs, escape into Fangorn Forest and there encounter the Ents. Gandalf has miraculously returned and defeated the evil wizard, Saruman. Sam has left his master for dead after a battle with the giant spider, Shelob; but Frodo is still alive now in the foul hands of the Orcs. And all the while the armies of the Dark Lord are massing as the One Ring draws ever nearer to the Cracks of Doom.
A triumphant close . . . a grand piece of work, grand in both conception and execution. An astonishing imaginative tour de force. Daily Telegraph
Includes the complete appendices and index for The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

As a fan of the Lord of the Rings, I was very excited about this product. The product didn't live up to my expectations. Few illustrations add zero value to the experience. You won't find levels of content if you were expecting it. The pages are very thin. I would compare them to the colorful tissue paper you put in gift bags. The book was prepared with little to no care. I was amazed at how many pages were cut or misprinted in the book I read.

   Book Is Bound Wrong?
Around page 540 my book becomes an appendix and is flipped upside down. Is everyone like this or is it just a mistake?

   Only a handful illustrations.
As soon as I received the book, I began to read it. Before I saw the first illustration, it was almost half the book. When the illustrations are the main selling point, you should have more than a few.

Beautiful edition, a book to be displayed prominently
Most of the reviews about the book received damage are about it. That is a shipping problem. It doesn't have anything to do with reviews of the item itself. The tome is large, sturdy and has beautiful stenciled edges. The sound of opening the spine for the first time was very satisfying and I love having a ribbon page marker included. The pages are very thin, so I worry about ripping them, but I can't imagine how big the book would be with thicker pages. There are two maps that are loose and not printed in the book. I'm glad to have this edition. 5 stars for the book

   Beautiful But Damaged
The edition was wonderful. The pages and cover are beautiful, but it's a bit smaller than I thought. It was damaged in the shipping process, but it's not a big deal. I can't tell if it's on the outside or inside.

We end up waiting and paying more to get a defective product
There is a desire to puncture the book's hard covers. I waited a long time for this book to arrive and now I see the disappointing marks.
