Good, but not as good as the Monster Snow Goons!
This book is a collection of short comic stories about a six-year-old boy named Hobbes and his invisible friend Calvin. Hobbes is Calvin's stuffed-animal toy tiger, which is real to Calvin and only Calvin can hear Hobbes talk. Calvin is Rosalyn's babysitter and he almost hates her. Calvin spends time with his babysitter because he is simply too much for his parents to handle and they need an occasional break like going to dinner together. So they hire Rosalyn, a teenager, to sit down with Calvin. Rosalyn is paid well, so she agrees to babysit the little twerp, but regularly asks for a raise. The conflicts between Rosalyn and his sitter Calvin are the source of many great comic interactions. For example, when Rosalyn learns that Calvin wants to study for an important school exam, he tells Hobbes-night Hobbes! Thus the hilarious antics that everyone from ages 8 and up will love to read.

   Classic
I did not like Baby-Sat much when I read it first, but it has since grown on me. Here Watterson hits its stride -- it is smooth and polished without the occasionally ostentious formal experiments of the later books. There are some classic cartoons in this collection -- I think the chocolate - frosted sugar - bombs beanie story is one of the very best. Look at the way Calvin keeps his hopes up over and over again, only to have them smashed -- and yet there is a kind of solace at the end. This is as funny, sad, and wise as the best of Peanuts.

   Cracks me up every time!!
And what I mean is that he has made another fun Calvin and Hobbes collection book from his famous cartoon strip. This book has all the basics that made all Calvin and Hobbes fans laugh for years- Calvin getting into trouble with his mother, his teacher, Prince Charles'; father. Calvin had fun in the snow with his sled and in summer with his red wagon. Throughout the day, Calvin and Hobbes ran away from home. Tusie denied Calvin's love to Susie. Calvin gives tough comments and asks the rude questions. Calvin and the untimely philosophy of Socrates. This also has the favorite, the on-going battle between Calvin and the wicked baby sitter Merylin. This is a great book and a great addition to the millions of Calvin and Hobbes fans'collections. This is a must-buy, even if you are a first time C&H reader, it would be a good way to start your collection.

   Brilliant stuff!
This is the fifth installment of the Calvin and Hobbes series, and gets better with each repeated reading. There are more adventures and more significant discussions between the characters. Here we have the ups and downs of winter, Vengeance against Rosalyn the babysitter, a propellor beanie, unstoppable Hiccups, another boring week of camping, a small incident with Calvin's parents'car and a chilling break-in of the family's house. We begin to see more philosophical imagination from Calvin and Hobbes and much more vivid strips that give Calvin and Calvin much more importance than it deserves. This is one hell of a comic book, and will always be remembered as a classic.

My kids love Calvin and Hobbes
My now 7 and 9 year old children love reading Calvin and Hobbes. I used to love it as a kid and now I love watching my children enjoy the same books I did as a child. My son started reading it when he turned 6 and he will sit and read for hours. I can hear him laughing throughout the house while reading this book. I highly recommend the books of Calvin and Hobbes!

   Still Laughing
I remember the Calvin 'apos ; Hobbes books when I was a kid and read them fondly. I bought all the books for my own children now. My older son is an avid reader and has already finished the books we reread several times. He doesn 't seem to get tired of them, the biggest difference I have seen is in my younger son. When I tried reading other books at bedtime with them, he would always wander off or start playing with something else. At Calvin 'Boy, not only does he stays put, but he asks questions about what all the big words mean, and he shocked me the other day when I met him reading one of these books. Voluntarily : On this purpose, she is ranked. With access to a multitude of other things to play with, so that buying is definitely worth it!
