   An Immersion of the Soul
The author draws you in slowly and with great precision. I have never read a novel where the characters are real. It looks like the author is painting a masterpiece from the impressionist period. On paper, the author exclaimed what every man feels. No other man has felt or shared what a man believes. The author made human emotions between good and evil, light, and darkness, shallowness, and depravity. The premise that to suffer, is good has been underscored by the author. He is correct. If there was no Winter, would Spring be so great? This is a novel of the 19 th century and the author gives his characters amazing guile. This book is very easy to read, compared to the fright I had when I started it.

   Great book, very nice edition
This is a classic novel. The beginning is not bright. It's not easy to read, but it is worth it. The hardcover Everyman's Library edition is tight with a ribbon and very nice. It's not too big. Not large. I like hardcovers and Everyman's Library editions.

More of a "middle to lower middle class" perspective or Russian life in the days of the Czars.
My least favorite Russian writer is Pasternak. This style of writing is darker and gloomier than the other three, but it is still great insight into Russian culture from a lower class perspective.

   Arrived Damaged
The cover was gorgeous but it was damaged. The replacement should be in good condition. It should not be torn, bent or ripped for this price.

Bad print run and poor quality control
Fyodor Dostoevsky's classic has stood the test of time, so I'm not giving it a poor review. I object to the production of the copy that I got. There were duplicate pages. I'm glad he brought it to my attention because I will be returning the book.

   Everyman's library hardcover !
I don't think it's appropriate to review a classic book if it's the particular edition. I'm looking at Everyman's library edition. Everyman's library does not let you down in producing a great edition, with excellent binding, amazing quality paper, and great print. There are no defects. The introduction and footnotes give you a contextual understanding of the book. Highly recommend their edition.
