An interesting twist
Derived From Web , Dec 4, 2021
The main characters in Longworth's books have a lot of affection for each other. It's like listening to a good story from an old friend. The twist this time is with the narrator, a main character in a crime. Initially, the author had trouble using the device, but by the midway point, he had more control over it, and the story smoothed out nicely. I wish I had spent time in France when I was young enough to consider making a life there.

A fascinating departure in form
Derived From Web , Feb 26, 2020
The core characters of the mysteries set in Aix have appealed to me. It was written in third person. The book is told in two different ways, in the first and third person. There is a discussion about what writers talk about. The characters were engaging as always. The plot is more gripping because plot points are revealed by the character speaking in the first person and by the usual third person method. This book is excellent.

Like a little weeklong visit to Provence!
Derived From Web , Nov 3, 2019
These little stories are wonderful. All of the things we love about Provence are neatly described for us in a way that does not distract us from the good stories. The characters are growing and the culture of the upper middle class of the area is well- treated.

Great story to end Verlaque and Bonnet’s story
Derived From Web , Nov 18, 2018
The best of the series was this one. Verlaque and Bonnet are retiring. Verlaque would be a type of father that I would like to have seen. I didn't see her in this book, but she was on her own adventure. It was a great series. Too bad it is over.

An Excellent Mystery With A Strong Sense Of Place - The Provencal Region Of France
Derived From Web , May 25, 2018
From the beginning my attention was held. The story got off to a slow start, but it gathered speed and I couldn't wait to read it all. The author gave a description of the city and countryside, food, eating and drinking customs as well as the general way of life that made me feel like I was in France. A good read.

Very enjoyable read
Derived From Web , May 7, 2018
Love ghost stories. I enjoy hearing about the next chapter in the lives of Marine and Verlaque, as well as the mystery of several themes that take place in this one. This one was presented as a story within a story, with two periods within one year. I would have liked more history about what Maine's mother found even if it were not true.

I liked this book as much as all of Ms Longworth's books. She did a great job of unfolding the mystery in a way that was entertaining. Looking forward to her next book.
