Book Overview

This omnibus edition brings together Phillip Keller's three devotional classics, A Shepherd Looks and the 23rd Psalm, A Shepherd Looks at the Good Shepherd, and A Shepherd Looks at the Lamb of God. As a shepherd, Phillip Keller knew what it was to protect a vulnerable flock on a daily basis. The special skills of a shepherd demanded compassion, care, and guidance. His practical experience provides a wellspring of profound spiritual insight, reflected in these timeless meditations on the most famous psalm of all, on the relationship between the Good Shepherd and his sheep, and on the sacrificial role of Christ the Lamb of God.

This book is the best description of Psalm 23 I have ever read
This book is the best description of Psalm 23 that I have ever read. The author has truly been touched by the Holy Spirit to make such revelations of a psalm, that we take it for granted and recite it without even a second thought. The thoughts of this book should make us pause and meditate on what God truly says to us as individuals. I am now devouring more books by Keller.

An amazing book. An amazing author
Previously, I enjoyed buying the 23rd Psalm Book and purchased it. During my Bible study, I thought I would enjoy it. They liked it and I bought one for everyone. He brings, with each and every point, so much clarity and richness. We near the last section and we unanimously voted to go through more of his books. We have used research series by other pastors and authors. This is not that format, but it promotes such serious and lively discussions that we are very happy with our studies. We took a chapter a week with rotating leaders. An excellent experience.

   ***Best book I've ever read.
The best book I ever read. I said it Yup. If I were in a deserted island and I had a choice to have a book beside the Bible, this would be the book. I read it probably until I die, and then reread it again.

Is this the future of our books?
The print is smaller, tighter and more difficult to read. These tiny books do not lay in your lap or in the desk well, they are constantly trying to close. The crowded print wears your eyes. Some books are meant to be passed down ; they are treasures that share with the next generation a treasure. This book is a book of the bare bones ; there is no pleasure in trying to read it. I don 't want it on my phone or Kindle. If it is a book I treasure, I want to hold it and reread its pages as I wander through it. The author is remarkable, it is a shame that it is so hard to read his words.

   Amazing Message
Phillip Keller is an extraordinary author who writes with firsthand knowledge from the perspective of one. I read it for the first time more than 45-years ago A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 ''. It opened the meaning of Psalm 23 so much that I have given this book many times as a gift to Christian friends.

Life changing for understanding scripture more clearly
This book had a very profound impact on my Christian life. Phillip Phillip Keller is an excellent writer and this trilogy is easy to read and understand. This book allowed me to finally understand the parallels of Christ as the Good Shepherd and the Christians as His sheep. It is just amazing how we are all like sheep! It also explains the deep meaning of Jesus as'; Lamb of God . This is the number one Christian book for me and I have hundreds of Christian books! This book should be read by every Christian.

Well written, good tool for Bible studies
We've used this as a great tool in our Sunday School Bible study groups for a few years now, and each book in this trilogy provides great material for understanding both David's perspective with his writings and his relationship with the Lord, as well as something of Christ's role.
