Good read does a good job of demonstrating how one can be wrong in how one goes about being right. The basic thesis is that content in the head will not be pleasing to God without trusting God.

Peter Enns is a very refreshing voice not only among evangelicals, but also in the wider world of Christendom. I think this book pairs well with Lesslie Newbigin's book Proper Confidence.

Trust over certainty

I liked the emphasis on God's trust and growing in trust of God. Certainly, it is easier to bank one's faith on knowledge and certainty.

A personal testimony
Derived From Web , Apr 11, 2021
Peter Enns' is a PhD Bible professional who thought he knew it all. This book contains his spiritual processes as he sought to rebuild his thought life from the wreckage. He rails against the patterns of Christian correct interpretation and the pursuit and defense of Biblical thinking. It struck me that he was really rebelling against the confining limits of the American Christian culture and that he had misdiagnosed the problem. Nevertheless, it is an interesting and quick reading book for those interested in theological philosophy. And it's short.

Fear of Hell and Punishment, however, does one's tush in the pew and money on the plate. Trust is paramount!!

One big book, one tiny little point.

I did not even make it through all the way yet, but I will try to revisit it little by little. Get a pamphlet on the same concept and you're there.
