Book Overview

In 1983, before E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey and Sylvia Day's Bared to You, Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquelaure, began the first installment of the series that is now considered a forerunner of erotic literature. This boxed set, containing The New York Times bestseller The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment, and Beauty's Release is a testament to Anne Rice's irresistible talent. Now in a repackaged edition with a new foreword by the author, Rice's charged eroticism and magical style is back, connecting old and new readers alike.

   Excellent spin on sleeping beauty
A friend of mine told me about these books. Once you pick one up, you won 't be able to put it down. Fifty shades of grey will seem to you like from here to eternity after reading this series.

   Fun EXPLICIT Read
We would read it secretly to each other giggling, but loudly aroused, or at least I was.

   Tintilating Erotica
As the cover title states, if you liked 50 shades of grey, you 'll love The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. To get the full story read the entire 3 books. Unfortunately, some libraries have only one of the books in the series, which makes the series a disservice.

   Straight Up Trash
It is hard to find material that is feminist and dirty. As described, this is NOT an erotic novel. Be prepared, a rape scene unfolds on PAGE TWO, and sexual assault is the rule of the day. I don 't think Ann Rice knows what looks like empowering sex between two individuals. She fills the book with scenes of women “joying ” against their will being taken against their will. I don 't judge sexual fantasies of other people, but to describe this as erotica is misleading and highly irresponsible. It is a backward drivel that supports rape culture and romanticizes sexual assault. Straight trash, straight up.

   Love love love
Such an amazing adaptation if a story we all knew as children. Love the adult version of love. This book will make you want to devour it.

   Talented Authors biggest failure
I can not believe that Anne Rice wrote this terrible book! It is read as though no one else read or edited it at all. It was like she tried to come up with the most disgusting and twisted forms of punishment and just threw them one after the other and piled them on top of each other. I was shocked that such a talented writer thought that this was even worth publishing. Supplicating isn 't even a word, she tried to use the word supplicate as an adverb... uh? No plot, just the same idea repeated over and over again. The waste of time is not much use.

   Exquisite and provocative
It became my guilty pleasure quickly and I just couldn t put it down once I started it. If you're a fan of erotic romance, you'll be addicted to it.

   So disappointed!
Anne Rice has written most of my books. This is not what I call erotica at all, more like torture and while I have read books in the same genre, as hard as they were to read, they were well written and had a good story. This one was lacking both in content and in characters. I was so disappointed even with the first book ; I was so happy ''.

   Not a fan
As far as erotica goes, I do not care for this. Not to mention the lack of consent on the part of the slaves, lol.

   Best erotica I've found
The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy was 100x better than 50 Shades of Juvenile Writing...
