Write Review
The book is a masterpiece. Just like every poem written by the author. I'll eat it every day.
Don't listen to the Karen Reviews
I love how raw the work is. People preach about subjectivity until it doesn't suit their taste. People acting like they know poetry but have live laugh love hanging up in their houses. I'm not sure what Rupi has done to upset so many anal suburban moms, but they should take their reviews with a grain of salt. Her work is intended for a certain group of people and she doesn't mind what she feels because she knows they will reach it. It's not your job to be a role model. Trust me, your kids aren't angels and they aren't innocent, come from someone who has heard it all in school. Most of that comes from you, not anyone else. She writes about a reality for many people who aren't privileged enough to live in a land of make believe.
   Cute illustrations!
A cute look book. The illustrations in this book are really good. I will be reading more of these books.
   Avid readers beware
So basic. A sentence per page is a complete waste of space. The poems in here are just quotes.
The Sun and Her Flowers is a great book.
I like how it is written. There isn't a lot of words on each page. The main idea of the book is something I understand. I recommend it to anyone. I love milk and honey in this book. My favorite books are the two I have.
This is NOT appropriate for young readers
My granddaughter asked for a book of poetry for Christmas. I discovered that the book contained some questionable content for a 13 year old. You should not be prepared to explain the material to your young reader.
   Inappropriate for Minors
I bought this for a minor. One poem talked about how any kind of touch was better than none, and there were inappropriate graphics as a flipped through the book.
Needs to have a sexual content warning in description
My daughter recommended The Sun and Her Flowers and Milk and Honey to me as I was excited to purchase them. I skimmed through the books when they arrived. I don't think this is appropriate for my 14 year old. The descriptions didn't say anything about sexual content. The books seem like a great read for a mature reader. Maybe 17. I don't think anyone under 17 should read it.
Don't think twice, just buy it!
This book is a delight and I love it! If you read her first book, it's still in her signature style, but she covers different topics from a different perspective. It feels like her books are maturing with her, as this one handles the issues from Milk and Honey in a more mature, learned tone. If for no other reason than to see that we are all sharing the same struggles in love and life, you should read this.
Poetry that almost seems like haiku
I bought this to see what the young people are reading. Rod McEwan wrote poems about love and loss in my day. You can read through the entire collection in a short period of time.
