One of the Best Books on the Market
This is the best book I have ever read. I shared it with my brother and his wife because my brother had been to the same places our hero had been. My brother almost died from the same disease as our hero. I buy used copies of this book and send them to soldiers overseas as it is a book that is so intriguing and entertaining, as well as character development. The Last Juror and The Painted House are my favorites by Grisham. I send them overseas too. Grisham is the best writer in America.

   Great read!
I read this while on vacation. There were a lot of old paperbacks in the breakfast room at the bed and breakfast that I was at in the Caribbean. I will give Grisham a try. I usually don't read fiction but since I was on vacation, I thought I'd do it for fun and as an escape from my normal routines. The book caught up with me. The main character is a lawyer who after finishing his 3 rd stint in a rehab for drug and alcohol addiction, is chosen to go into the wilds of Brazil to find a heiress who has $11 billion. She's a Christian missionary who's been living with an indigenous tribe for 11 years and doesn't want the money. The journey to find her is dangerous. She helps him find a god and heal his addiction problems when he finds her. I won't reveal the ending but it's a great read.

   One of Grisham's best
I listened to the book on audiobook. The experience was good. It's difficult to read on a large monitor because I am legally blind. There is a Testament. A strange will with greedy family members left out and the only beneficiary being an illegitimate daughter. The legal battles and the adventure begin for an alcoholic lawyer who goes looking for Rachel, the daughter serving God in a remote jungle in Brazil. Rachel is an inspiration for the reader and the unlikely hero, Nate. She may become even more to him. Grisham put more of his soul and writing ability into this book than he has in the past.

This one has slipped under the radar too long!!!
I bought this novel and couldn't put it down because I didn't notice it. Grisham takes the reader to a new level of suspense in his novel, which involves ruthless family members, lawyers and a burned out alcoholic, that will break and lift your heart and leave you with new levels of understanding and hope for this devastating disease. You will feel like you are in the rain forest of south America when you look at the backdrop. Grisham takes on a new way of involving the reader in religion with a missionary in the remotest region of the rain forest She will show you the true meaning of Do unto others as you would have others do unto you with her method of spreading God's true words of love and empathy. For certain things, five stars.

   Author is at His Best
I believe this book is one of John Grisham's best. In the novel we see characters who seem to live for things that will have eternal value even though they are poor, and some who seem to live for things that will have eternal value even though they are poor. Other characters who seem to have achieved everything seem to be wretched and miserable. John Grisham's novel invites us to reexamine our criteria for human worth and success.

The odd man out, but very enjoyable
The odd man out among John Grisham's adult legal thrillers. An eccentric Virginia billionaire dies and leaves a handmade will that ignores his heirs and settles his enormous estate on a young Brazilian missionary. Not set in the American South but in the central part of Brazil, which is a kind of flooded wetlands. I enjoyed the change of scene despite the fact that Grisham included travelogue material for the benefit of the ignorant. This novel is still alive and affordable thanks to the new paperback.

Grisham is always a good read and I've read many of his books
I' ve read many of Grisham's books. I was surprised I didn't catch this one, I'm happy I corrected it. Next to The Firm is my favorite Grisham book. It's a great adventure and a good story. Grisham takes you out of the courtroom and into exotic and dramatic locals where you are holding your breath to see what will happen. I was happy to be reading this in my bed, as all the things were crawling across the pages. The characters are well written byGrisham. Grisham is a master at never over writing, and yet with a sure pen he sketches out his people and makes you feel like you know them. This is a very good read. He didn't talk to me for 2 days as his nose was in the book and wouldn't come out, and I passed it on to him.

   Flawed but excellent.
Grisham books are easy to read and easy to follow. The juxtaposition of the courtrooms was well done. There was no one to really like in this book. The schmuck who died was an old geezer. His children are stupid. His children are not happy. He's an attorney, but he's a decent guy. The hero of the story, if that's what he is, is a drunk. Two wives divorce and not many good qualities. The woman in the jungle was a good person, but she turned it down. The book was dragged in the jungle. More information was needed. The pace picked up in the final third. Enjoyable.

   Huge estate leads to intrigue.
This is not a typical John Grisham novel, even though it involves a surprise bequest, and the search for the lost recipient, with opposition from people who thought they would inherit the large estate. The main character is looking for a young woman who does not want to be found in the swamp land. It all hang together because of the tales about why this situation exists. The setting is what makes this a very readable book. I think it's great!
