Book Overview

In Cia's dystopian society it's an honor to be chosen for The Testing. But it's not enough to pass the Test. Cia will have to survive it.

It's graduation day for sixteen-year-old Malencia Vale, and the entire Five Lakes Colony (the former Great Lakes) is celebrating. All Cia can think about--hope for--is whether she'll be chosen for The Testing, a United Commonwealth program that selects the best and brightest new graduates to become possible leaders of the slowly revitalizing post-war civilization. When Cia is chosen, her father finally tells her about his own nightmarish half-memories of The Testing. Armed with his dire warnings (Cia, trust no one), she bravely heads off to Tosu City, far away from friends and family, perhaps forever. Danger, romance--and sheer terror--await.

   Really good!
I love a good dystopian novel! This one gave sort of a hunger games vibe, but was different in a good way. The end left me wanting more of this story for sure!

   Test your patience.
When I started reading this book, I was not thinking about Hunger Games. It was just like that type of story within the first hundred pages. I decided to read on after I realized I had spent too much time reading. This is not a clone. The book is unfortunate because it contains a lot of story points. The hero is a teenager that has to face a life threatening challenge because of the government. The similarities end at that point. This is a lot more complex than we have seen before. At the end of book one, the trials of Cia and her friends will begin. At this point, possibilities are still almost endless. I will not tell you any more because this will take up a lot of my reading time. It's a great quote: Read this!

   Wonderful trilogy
I loved this trilogy. I hate it when a book is compared to other books or if you're a fan of Harry Potter, you will love it. I agree that this book is a cross between the Hunger Games and the Divergent trilogy. I had to download book 2 after I finished this one.

Before I picked up this book the person who introduced me to it said that it was better than The Hunger Games
The person who introduced me to this book said it was better than The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is in a league of its own, no way, my response was similar to that of Pfft. I am not sure. The Testing made it into the league of its own if the Hunger Games is.

   Excellent read
The impact of past decisions on future generations is explored in the book. The leader's theme is leadership and qualities shared by all the generations. "This book is not afraid of exploring ways to teach lessons from history." I am excited to read the sequel.

   Dystopian
This book not only came in very good condition but the story is also so fascinating. The characters have to go through difficult trials that could be potentially lethal so not all of them will survive and to not spoil anything I’ll stop here and just simply recommend this book.

This book is a page turner. I couldn't put it down. The world the characters live in is beautifully created.

Excellent. Edge of your seat action
The book is amazing. From the beginning, I was hooked. It's a must read. The character and plot of the story make you believe that you're on the journey. It was a great book.

i want to see this as a movie trilogy!
This series is not a hunger game or a copy of another series. I always read reviews before buying books, but this one is good. I'm surprised it doesn't have a higher rating. I have found that a lot of cheaper books get higher ratings. cia and her classmates are not supposed to remember but they do. They don't know until it's too late that they are being listened to. cia takes a chance and doesn't listen to her father's advice to not trust anyone. The characters are engaging. I was rooting for cia and uneasy when she was not. There is a great love story that starts with balance and suspense.

   Love it!
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It's so action filled that the rest of the trilogy is also action filled.
