The Theoretical Minimum: What You Need To Know To Start Doing Physics is 256 pages long.
excellent foundation

Even I, over 50 years removed from the calculus and differential equations, was able to understand the lectures. I recommend this for everyone interested in classical physics basics.

Good physics summary for first or second year university physics students.
Derived From Web , May 23, 2022
In my case, it is a good reference for the review and study of some less familiar material. Customers should know what level they are and the level of the book, and should know if they want to find a book for new material or for a review of their knowledge of physics. Probably comparable to more important books dealing with some of the most common equations in physics.

Rigorous mathematics...
Derived From Web , May 23, 2022
I bought this slim volume after reading a book review in the Wall Street Journal. The reviewer promoted the Susskind book as '' Physics in a Nutshell or as an '' introduction to physics ''. The reviewer described the target audience for The Theoretical Minimum '' as university graduates without a solid foundation in science or high school graduates who want an introduction to physics before committing to a college-level physics course. Wrong is counted on all counts! The theoretical minimum '' serves as a refresher course for someone who has already completed a college physics course *already ''. The mathematics in the book of Susskind is rigorously trigonometry, calculus and much more. I was beaten after three chapters and have a college degree in chemical engineering.

Susskind is a master educator! I'm through more than ...

Susskind is a master teacher! In a few days, I'm through more than half the book. I have also listened intently to many of his on-line lectures. If he does not deserve a Nobel Prize for his special contributions to physics, the Nobel Committee should create a category for educating the public on science. He would be a Nobel Laureate there, however, if the scores are not already tallied for String Theory.

This is a pretty good book

It is very aggressive and fast-paced, but perfectly manageable for anyone with just a high school background in mathematics and physics.

Its a good book and one should probably
Derived From Web , May 23, 2022
It's a good book and you should probably watch the videos of the same to get the most out of it. There are probably a few typos in it, which will be fixed with a new edition.

The Kindle version is completely unreadable on most devices, including tablets.
Derived From Web , Aug 6, 2021
I haven 't gotten that far into the Kindle version, but it has become clear that I will read this book on either another platform or as a physical copy. The problem is that the equations appear in a font that is virtually microscopic. If they are graphic images, they do not respond well when selected for magnification. And even if they did, that would make reading these books quite cumbersome. I am considering a refund ''.

These books have a reading order
Derived From Web , May 19, 2021
It would have been so helpful to include a number, 1, 2 or 3 in their titles, so that I could have spotted that right away and bough Volume 1. This may not sound like much of a criticism, but if you set out to teach rather than entertain, you surely don 't want someone to buy one of their books with a serious intent to understand something, only to discover after a week that the writer has not even heard a previous book in the series, when they have not even heard a previous book. This caused me to stop what I was studying and go out and get the second volume, but this is all mentally challenging and not helpful at all when dealing with obscure material like this.

Deep Thinking a Hard Row
Derived From Web , Jan 23, 2021
More than just refreshing physics from long past classes, it challenges you to redo math. I wanted to check my answers, but the book has no appendix for the exercises. I found the answers to the exercises in on-line documents. Phys has been more useful to me than informational. The book can be painful to read and work the problems when you rationalize why you are doing it. Retired EE for 14 years, the book reminds me how easy my life used to be and how hard it has become. This book is enjoyed in short bursts with several glasses of wine to manage stress with a smile.

The best fundamentals physics book that I have seen.
Derived From Web , Dec 13, 2020
I studied physics many years ago and how I wish I had this book to start with back then! Instead of teaching a multitude of tricks, it teaches the very fundamental principles in the most consistent and clear way I have ever seen. The exercises are relevant and clear and elucidate the material truly. The fundamental concepts I really struggled with back then are clearly explained in a straight forward way. The book I have seen on physics is the best fundamental book. The following -- quantum mechanics deserves the same praise.
