#1 New York Times bestseller Mike Lupica tackles football
Will Tyler can fly on a football field. He may not be the biggest running back around, but no one can touch him when it comes to hitting the hole and finding the end zone. And no one can match his love of the game. When Will has a football in hand, he may as well be flying for real because life can't touch him - his dad isn't so defeated, his town isn't so poor, and everyone has something to cheer for. All of which does him no good if the football season is canceled. With no funding for things like uniforms and a cared-for playing field, with seemingly every other family moving to find jobs, there simply isn't enough money or players for a season. Unless one kid can rally an entire town and give everyone a reason to believe . . . I think this is an extremely good book, because I thought the storyline and the main and supporting characters are very interesting. Taking part in sports like football my self can understand the feeling of having the entire game on the line and in your hands. Mike Lupica is my favourite author and has written some of my favourite books, including Heat and Travel Team.

The Underdogs Book

My sons are not big readers, but really enjoy reading the book series by Mike Lupica. I continue to read these books as long as they continue with the desire to purchase on their own. I would recommend these books to anyone who has a child interested in sports, but not so interested in reading. You won 't believe how these books will make them pick up the book and read with out being asked.

Good book with solid
Derived From Web , Dec 15, 2017
I would have loved this in the fourth grade, and it reminds me of some of the books I read then, like the Eddie series. Adults : Not so much for adults. Kid is overly wise for the 7th grade and everything works out in the end because the kids meant well and tried hard. Nice lesson, of course, but has nothing to do with real life. In fairness, the father does represent this perspective. Still a bit naive for anyone beyond the high school. Get it, but get it for your kids.
