Good, simple and to the point
This is an authoritative and useful Unofficial Guide. I would recommend this book for first time investors in real estate, or even for people who have invested in the past but want to become serious in real estate investment. Understanding Real Estate as an investment, Secrets of real estate investing, mastering the market, Setting your investment goals, and Facing your fears are some of the sections in the book. I believe most initial investors will find section 1, 2 and 6 useful and should read section 6 as part of their preparation for starting a real estate investment career. The rest of the book is well written and will likely be used as reference rather than an end to end reading.

An excellent reference guide for investors
The book is laid out in a way that makes it an easy reference guide. It covers a wide range of topics and has helpful tips on the side of the pages for additional interest. This book is included in my real estate investment book collection and would be one of the best. I would recommend this book to anyone who is new to real estate investing. How You Can Become Financially Independent by Investing in Real Estate is one of the best books. It's out of print, but if you can find one, you should buy it.

Best book for basics, a must have for your desk
I have been a part time real estate investor for the last 6 years. There are lessons from books. I have a lot of books on real estate investing, but this is the only one that sits on my desk constantly. I copied many parts of the book. It is a broad overview in some cases, but it also touches on almost everything related to investing. It covers the basics thoroughly and that is what keeps me coming back to it.

Most comprehensive, well written and well edited real estate book out there
I have at least 20 books on real estate investing, but this book is the only one that I really need. The authors try to sell you their seminars or DVD in a different way. The book is real. The book is well written and easy to read. It's highly recommended.

Excellent choice for novice real estate investors
Most of the basics for first time investors are covered in this book. The section on valuation was very useful. I liked the idea of writing down an investment plan and making sure it's on time. This will help you reach your goals. I accidentally left my copy on an airplane and am replacing it today. I hope to make an offer on my first investment property next week, based on information from this book. One book isn't enough, that's for sure. Readers should check out Real Estate Investing From A to Z by W. H. Pivar and Rental Houses for the Successful Small Investor. A man named Thomas.

Written by a committee - and it shows
The book is well organized and written, but lacks depth and detail, as if there were many things left out for one reason or another. I'm only on chapter 3 of Investing in Real Estate 3 rd edition and have already gotten more out of it than I got from The Unofficial Guide. If you' re looking for a great book on the subject, I would suggest you go for Investing in Real Estate 3 rd edition instead.

   Very outdated in 2020
The version that I have is from 1999. The latest version seems to be from 2003 It has a lot of basic information, but it's a different world than we' re living in. Laws were changed after the real estate crash. It's different when it comes to lending. If you' re a bit more advanced, this wouldn't be of much use.
