Return to Harlem's wildly entertaining family in this funny, heartwarming sequel. When catastrophe strikes their beloved upstairs neighbors, the Vanderbeeker children set out to build the best, most magical healing garden in Harlem--in spite of a locked fence, thistles and trash, and the conflicting plans of a wealthy real estate developer.

While Isa is off at sleepaway orchestra camp, Jessie, Oliver, Hyacinth, and Laney are stuck at home in the brownstone with nothing to do but get on one another's nerves. But when catastrophe strikes their beloved upstairs neighbor, their sleepy summer transforms in an instant as the Vanderbeeker children band together to do what they do best: make a plan. They will create the most magical healing garden in all of Harlem.

In this companion to The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street, experience the warmth of a family and their community as they work together to bring a little more beauty and kindness to the world, one thwarted plan at a time.

   Fantastic Family Loving Book
This is a great family book full of love and city-type adventures, Melissa. It's a lot of fun, and has some nice life lessons. It shows how the two characters get together to help each other, he said. My kids absolutely love the book series. I highly recommend this book.
   Gift for granddaughter
This is the first time in her life that she has received a gift. She said she and her sister read the others from the library, which she said made the series stand out. Not sure whether difficulty level would be considered high or low. It was easy for them to get hold of a book.
We adored this read - looking forward to the others!
I read a lot of really extreme-loving views or hating. Only two types of people are motivated to write reviews: those who have a passion and are willing to put in the time and effort to do so. It's just that they put it there." Before I read it, I wanted to make sure it was good for my daughter. The first part was slow, with too many characters, Crowe said. It was a lot of work, but I had a hard time getting into it. But BOY HOWDY, when I stuck with it, I was pleasantly surprised. It's a story about humans in a unique living community experiencing love, friendship and the day-to-day life of a human being. It's wholesome, Whole Nine Yards, said Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. My daughter read it - she had a slow start, but then stayed up until about 10 p.m. to finish. She then looked up the author, added additional books, and we ordered the rest of the series. Compare all the books you would like to read, but I think that's a waste of time. It's precious, unique, and worth the read.
   Great family read aloud!
It was such a joy to read, and I'll treasure the book. The entire gang was already excited about the second book. It was great to follow their progress as they tackled their project out of love, Hubach said. Newcomers alike were just lovable and memorable as the rest of the series. My 6 year old wants to know we could move to 141st Steet someday! I think I may like this sequel better than the first. I have no idea why, but both are great.
   Vanderbeeker Magic Strikes Again
An endearing story of an intentional family of neighbors living together in a Harlem brownstone. In a surprise move, the Vanderbeeker children secretly build a garden to honor their elderly neighbors after one suffers a stroke.
A fun and riveting addition to the series
Our 9-year-old twins, Grace and Max, devour them. The second book in the series, "The Fall," is just as good as the first two. It has a great sense of family, drama, humor and even romance, he said. In "There's a Dark Enemy," the Vanderbeekers work together in their classic and wholesome way to vanquish their opponent.
   Love these books!
I'm a huge fan of the Harry Potter series. It's adorable, Mr. Booher told us. I'm 40 and I read it first and then gave it to my two nieces.
   Good book!
My daughter really enjoyed the Vanderbaker's first book and so for Christmas we bought her the second one. She enjoyed it just as much, even though she was pregnant. It was definitely recommended, and I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
   Fantastic Book
A great book, Gillian. I'll treasure the book with my kids. We are delighted to share experiences with the Vanderbeekers again, said Dr. Goin. I love the example for my kids of the children working together toward a common goal, the realization that people aren't who you assume they are at first glance, and that hard work can pay off more than you every hoped. My kids absolutely love how the characters are relatable to each of them. We all get sucked into the lives and story of this literary family that has quickly become one of our favorites.
   Such a wonderful series!!!
I have never seen such a great book. It has made me laugh and cry, and I still remember all the wonderful mischief the princes get into." It has also reminded me how wonderful children are, Mrs. Kennedy said.
