Book Overview

. . . quite simply the best financial self-help book.
--Money Book Club, Book-of-the-Month Club
In this new and updated edition of one of the biggest-selling financial-planning books ever, David Chilton simplifies the complex puzzles of personal finance and helps you achieve financial independence. With the help of his fictional barber, Roy, and a large dose of humor, Chilton shows you how to take control of your financial future--slowly, steadily, and with sure success. Chilton's plan (detailed in an entertaining story) is no get-rich-quick scheme, but it does make financial independence possible on nothing more than an average salary.
This third edition has been updated with assistance from the Arthur Andersen Corporation, and covers the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 and other recent developments.
Even if you consider yourself a financial basket case, Chilton explains how you can easily put an effective financial plan into action.

   Investing and saving made easy
Had one once lent it to someone, he said. Easy to read in a story form.

Don't buy this book if you need direction in investing
This book explains WHY it's great to invest, not how to do it or what investing options are out there.

   Title Says it!
This book really does a great job of getting across the concepts that so many of us are asking questions about saving and investing for the future as well as just being thrifty while building your nest egg.

   Great advice
It should be mandatory reading for 6th graders and up. Without proper economic education, many of our younger Americans find themselves without direction on the use of money and savings.

   Worth what it is
If you are looking to know more about your retirement future then go read this book. It works like this: your brain is firing your brain cells at will. My retirement guy, I'm not saying this to you, but he said before you come and talk with me, it will give you the vocab to talk. It's great to be back home, said Blair.

   Excellect book
I recommend this book to every one who needs to build a portfolio. I sent this book to my son when I finished it and bought his other son a few weeks later.

   The Wealthy Barber
The book is relatively short, and can be read in a weekend. Thanks for the valuable advice. Must read for every 20 something starting a career, family, or even a part-time job. Wouldn't hurt for our elected Federal officials to read too?

   No Longer Useful
My wife and I bought this book for her English class as a required reading. Mr. Daschle said: "I don't know why it would be required. An interesting story behind it, but the financial info is clearly out of date. There have been a lot of changes since the book was published, making every other point archaic. It must have been great, but not for me, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

   Foolproof Long Term Investing
The book changed my financial life and I still love it.

Great for Beginners and young people
Young investors will find this book useful. It is the first investing book I ever read when it was recommended by The Motley Fool many, many years ago.
