   An Intelligent Read
I am only just getting into this book and I must say that Mrs. Bauer knows exactly what she is talking about. About to toot my own horn, but I can see that Bauer has her finger on what it takes to not only have a refined mind, but also a well-educated trait that all of us should aspire to embody. If you have zero appreciation for this, you should watch an episode of The Kardashians right now!

   Wonderful book
Susan Wise Baur is a great author and historian and I'm glad that I can add this book to my library. I already have her other books on ancient history, so this was a great addition to my collection. She does a good job of explaining how you can develop a love of reading and improve your reading skills.

Now I know precisely where my journey begins.
I always had this nagging sense of the inadequacy of my traditional classroom education with its one size fits all sensibilities and robotically-opague agendas. After discovering the well-organized mind, I feel as if I am starting over in many ways, sort of like being left in a corner of a library to figure it all on my own.

Not very comprehensive, definitely not helpful
I am honestly sorry that I bought this book. Here there is nothing you can find easily. I thought it was going to be a book about classical education and in-depth books to read and why, and it is essentially a very incomplete list with very brief reviews. Considering that she is supposed to be very thorough, it is disappointing.

My Goto Reference To Guide My Journey
At the age of 16, I dropped out of high school. I was given my GED when I was 43. Now I am 76. This was titled and written for me perfectly. I merely retired from technology, where reading was necessary to function. I can now put that time in reading all the classics that I missed. The Well Educated Mind '' is also a book by the author. The book that is being read has been my guide for determining priorities on my reading. For someone of my age, the mental stimulation is excellent. I have it for as many years as I expect it will continue its usefulness.

Didn't know what I had missed...
I found this a very helpful tool to fill some gaps in my education. I have not completed this book completely, but have done enough work to know that it is well worth the effort and time.

   Classical Education How-to
I have been out of school for many years now. I have often wanted to go back to college and take classes, but I don 't think that at this stage in my life it would be a good decision. I love this book because it challenges to educate oneself. I can not recommend it enough!
