From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

The impossible has been accomplished. The Lord Ruler -- the man who claimed to be god incarnate and brutally ruled the world for a thousand years -- has been vanquished. But Kelsier, the hero who masterminded that triumph, is dead too, and now the awesome task of building a new world has been left to his young prot g , Vin, the former street urchin who is now the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and to the idealistic young nobleman she loves.

As Kelsier's prot g and slayer of the Lord Ruler she is now venerated by a budding new religion, a distinction that makes her intensely uncomfortable. Even more worrying, the mists have begun behaving strangely since the Lord Ruler died, and seem to harbor a strange vaporous entity that haunts her.

Stopping assassins may keep Vin's Mistborn skills sharp, but it's the least of her problems. Luthadel, the largest city of the former empire, doesn't run itself, and Vin and the other members of Kelsier's crew, who lead the revolution, must learn a whole new set of practical and political skills to help. It certainly won't get easier with three armies - one of them composed of Read More chevron_right

   Incredible story
If you read a good book, you have to read this. This story is incredible, I am reviewing the whole series more than this book because you cannot just read this book, you have to read them all. I plowed through them in about two weeks without hesitation, Mr. Dhaliwal said. Its just that rarest of things, the piano. You must have read this book.
Book 1 was pretty satisfying as a stand-alone
Still, it's a pretty satisfying story as a stand-alone, exploring the world of magic, and the excellently-drawn characters with their complex mental life and snappy dialogue. It's a perfect storm of fantasy, noir, superhero action and romantic balls all somehow mixed into one marvelous aesthetic.
   Well of great writing
Brandon Sanderson, inventor of the Spin, can spin yarn. After the Third Reich's forces vanquished the tyrants, the free fighters preserve beyond all odds after good triumphs over evil oppression. Full of politics, action, adventure, suspense and even some tragedy. By the end of the Siege of Luthadel, we are reminded that the characters are mortal and I am almost afraid to read Hero of Ages because characters I have formed connections with may be lost. Fantastic storytelling, no wonder Harriett McDougal invited Robert Jordon to finish his work.
Complex storyline, intriguing and engaging from start to end.
A lot of people have reviewed this book poorly based on the first two thirds, mainly character building and dealing with the ramifications of all of the changes in the empire from the first book. I wholeheartedly disagree and believe that the book was an excellent extension of the world built by Final Empire, and the complexity was necessary as a logical continuation of the first book. I found the whole book to be engaging, expounding on the Mistborn world in greater detail, its events, people, and magic systems with what is becoming his hallmark at artful exposition. The new characters introduced in the book provide a new insight into the characters from the last book, but are still well-known individuals in themselves. All in all the book was excellently written and the story, while not as good as his later work with the Stormlight archives, shows that Sanderson belongs in the upper echelons of modern fantasy writing.
   Awesome buy.
I chose a five-star rating for several reasons: It's fast, it works well, and it has great customer service. Brandon Sanderson is an entrancing novelist. Every book I read, I get further hooked to his genius writing style. Second, my book was in tip-top condition. I received my book in a timely manner, in what I, and many others, would consider perfect condition, he said. The price was wonderful, said Dr. Julie Gerberding of the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Using Amazon and their affiliates for any transaction you may want to make online is recommended. Do your best to own them all, Mr. Rule told the judge. Yes, I know I am.
   Can't stop reading!
No wonder SALVAGEDATA is so happy. I've had no complaints about Sanderson's writing, Taylor said. He's one of the best.
   Wonderful series
Vin is still discovering her Mist abilities and Elend finds that a democratic rule is not as easy as portrayed in the books. Using his unique brand of realism, Sanderson created a stunning portrait of the ancient world. As I swivel my chair, I imagine the different positions of Pulling or Pushing that would come into play during combat. Even though the show is over, every character will be interesting with fleshed-out backgrounds and growth. There are lots of twists that contribute to the reader's enjoyment of the story, Glover said.
4.5 stars for the story, 3 stars for the telling.
I found myself skimming this book more than once. Lots of repetition, some inelegant storytelling, Glover said. However, with no spoilers, I must now absolutely read the following book. A grand story is beginning to unfold, it's just beginning to come to light.
Sanderson crafts an incredible tale, excellent follow-up to Mistborn
Item arrived in just a day and a half from when I ordered it, which is fantastic in itself. Very good condition, looks and feels exactly as a paperback should. Printing is good, cover art is nice, and Gammerman is correct. Great story, great writing, too. A follow-up to the excellent Mistborn. I'm a new fan, he's been recommended by friends for some time, and I only recently finished Mistborn as the first of his books that I've read and absolutely loved it. Well Of Ascension didn't disappoint, it kept up the same energy of the first with thought put into how everything works, a plot that's easy to follow but not predictable, and building on interesting characters while introducing new ones. Highly recommended for people that don't want "yet another DandD campaign."
   Super fantastic fantasy series
The second book in the series, "Mistborn," was also highly praised. From beginning to end, action from beginning to end brings all the emotions into play. Branderson is the master at everything—from world building, to unique, believable characters, to fantastic plot twists. Vin and Elend explore their relationship more in this one, while Ludel has two armies come to destroy it and other terrors that put them against impossible odds, even with Vin's awesome powers. I couldn't put this book down once I started and it was superb, from the structure to the empathy the author made me feel to the fantasy elements and themes that come out so subtly but powerfully throughout the story. This is one series I will definitely read again. I'm so involved with the characters, Gammerman said.
