She hasn't read this particular book, but she's a huge fan of the series. My daughter is 8 and attends school in the fourth through sixth grades. She likes all girly things, soft and purplish, with some sparkly glittery flare, she said. These are books that she absolutely adores, it must be said. An easy, quick read, but at her appropriate level and not the comic strip style of writing.

The Owl Diaries are great beginner chapter books for kids

The Owl Diaries by Charlotte Short are great beginner chapter books for kids. My daughter only read them when she was in second grade. New York magazine says Jackson is "so excited" for the September 9 release. Lots of pictures and small word groupings to keep the stamina going.

Awesome Books for New independent readers

The book is full of witty one-line quips, and the illustrations by Pauley are lovely. She really likes the format of the writing. We were really looking for something to help her fall in love with reading, we found it, and it's great. She started school this year and had some trouble reading when she first started. After finding the entire series of books by the same author, she reads them all the time.

My 8.5yo daughter, who has read all the books, is obsessed with them. She discovered the first ones at her elementary school and since then she has been intently watching the newer books for release dates of the next ones. She will read the book and never seem to get tired of them. Both are well written and wholesome from a mom's perspective. I will continue to support this author.
