Moore's illustrations transport the reader to Graham's whimsical version of the pre-WWI 1908 world
Derived From Web , Feb 9, 2022
Inga Moore's illustrations make this edition of The Wind in theWillows worth five stars. The world of Kenneth Grahame has not been captured by any of the other illustrators of this book. Moore transports the reader to Grahame's pre- WWI 1908 world of well- stocked, well- furnished homes and country estates. It is a world to be looked at often.

Illustrations that make the story new again
Derived From Web , Feb 9, 2022
Normally I don't like books that are too short, but this illustrated version makes the story contemporary with illustrations that are wonderful. I bought a copy for myself after buying copies for my friends. It's great to give a classic that attracts the attention of the readers. Excellent!

I have been listening to this recording with my daughter since she was a baby. The narrator's ability to change voices is amazing, and it is the best recording of the story. You won't regret this purchase.

Nothing beats messing about in boats
Derived From Web , Feb 9, 2022
The illustrations are wonderful in this edition. One of the greatest lines in English literature is " nothing beats messing about in boats" by Rat. I found this classic about the life of small animals on a river intriguing, and am an author of sea stories. This is a wonderful book for children and their parents.

One of my favorites from childhood is this. I bought it for my grandson. The illustrations of this edition are very nice, and the text seems to be the same.

Editing left out important part

The field mice carols are one of my favorite scenes in the book. Mary, Joseph, and the animals who were the first to cry Nowell were not mentioned in the field mice's song. The mice would be singing.

pictures wonderful even if not the ones I remember
Derived From Web , Feb 19, 2018
A 6 year old grandson is reading to his 4 year old sister. Even if they are not the ones I remember, the pictures are wonderful. Enough time for the real book. I'm just starting.

I am not a fan of abridged classics, and this piece has been illustrated many times, but this edition is sheer magic, an extraordinary book that will bring joy to you from the first page. I can't speak enough about it.
