Fun way to learn about maps
Derived From Web , May 19, 2022
This book is classic, Dr. Seuss... silly, and children don 't realize that they are learning something. I bought this for my 6 year old before I went on vacation. We had been looking at maps and talking about what states we'd pass through on our trip. He enjoyed listening to the book and because of the way information is presented, he has retained what he learned. He even referred back to specific bits of information that we read from the book. The back of the book contains a glossary of the terms mentioned in the book. Highly recommended as an additional tool for teaching maps.

Not a true Suess book

Don 't be dared by the fool. It is ok in terms of intro - bout maps, but the writing is not Suess's quality.

Love reading aloud these new education Dr Seuss books.
Derived From Web , May 19, 2022
We have the new books by Dr Seuss on horses, maps and anatomy. As a parent, as a greatgrandparent, sibling or teacher. A children to read aloud to children. The Beginning Geography book grades K-2 and this book together make great teaching tools for 4-6 year old children. Recently we did 3 activities from the book of geography with a small group of homeschool children ages 4,5,6. The same night I read this book to my daughter, and it happened to examine the compass rose, using scal to measure maps and use symbols on maps we had studied with the geography work sheets during the day.

We like to have this book in our house. It has silly words and nothing makes a toddler giggle like many silly words. It introduces all card concepts, I was surprised when it said never eat soggy wheat, I learned soggy waffles in school. So interactive yes, fun yeah. Does my toddler really get it, I don 't think so.

Oh my dear Lord...
Derived From Web , Aug 21, 2021
While the author presents a treasure-trove of information about maps, the rest of the book is a BIG EAIL!!!! She should stop riding on the coattails of the Dr Seuss trademark because Seuss is not. Rhyming.... oh man, sooooo irritating! She changes back and forth between different rhyming types and the cadence is unpredictable. The intent of the rhyme is that it is pleasant to read..., this is not. Rather than enjoy a great read full of lyrical information, I found myself repeatedly needing to go back to the last verse in an attempt to read it in the least irritating way. The current is as it always is interrupted. Give it up to Ms Rabe. Stop trying to be Theodor Geisel and write for kids engaging, informative books.

Maps well explained

I teach my kindergartner about maps. This retained his interest and he kept a lot of information. I would recommend to anyone looking to add a social homeschool section with a young study.

Another great CIH book
Derived From Web , Aug 10, 2020
I bought this for my 4 & 6 year-old grandsons who have zero knowledge of the map due to Google, Waze etc. My daughter-in-law tells me that they thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and the six-year-old listens to it on his own.
