Great Detective Novel
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
I decided to give this book a try after reading it thoroughly. The central figure in the Lemmer Series is a middle- aged detective. I think it's the first in the series. The book had a lead character that I could relate to, mystery and intrigue, believability, and the chance to learn more about a foreign land. I might get to know the lingo if I read more of Mr. Meyer's books. I found out that there is a dictionary in the back of the book, so I had to read it quickly. I want Harry Bosch to go to South Africa to help Benny out on a case.

Thirteen Hours Filled With Suspense
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
A great storyline, good characters and on the edge of your seat suspense were what you could expect from Thirteen Hours by Deon Meyer. My last Deon Meyer book will not be this one. Two American girls are on a tour of a foreign country. One was killed by cutting her throat. The other is present. Several men want to kill her too. It is a journey for her. The young girl must be found before it's too late. He is assigned to a case where a music executive has been murdered and is found dead on the floor of his home by his wife who is a suspect. Filled with twists and turns, lots of excitement. It will keep you reading for a long time. It was very enjoyable.

Quite a book!
Derived From Web , Oct 25, 2020
There is an excellent storyline. The characters are well written. They have so many characters because of the amount of storyline they are going on at once. Lots of activity. Nothing comes together until the end. I didn't know that South Africa has so many different ethnic groups. This is a learning experience for me.

4.5 stars really
Derived From Web , May 23, 2020
Half way through the book, I realized it was a very good story and very good writing, and I had never heard of this writer before. I bought three more books by this author before finishing Thirteen Hours. A detective in South Africa has to solve a case if another American girl is to be killed. She is being hunted by killers and they will not back down. There is no give in the case of the two people on it. Good writing and a good book. I made sure the books I bought were from the same author.

Confusing
Derived From Web , Jul 27, 2019
I was confused by the story. The cases are two. The case about the American girls was pretty good, but I had some trouble keeping the characters straight. I didn't know there was a glossary at the end of the book and I was reading it on my e- reader. I didn't hear much of the dialogue in Xhosa. The second story wasn't very well written. There was a lot of information about the music industry that I didn't want to read. The second book in the series, 7 days, was excellent and I decided to give it another chance.
