Heart wrenching, to Say the Least
Makayla M , Nov 19, 2021
This book was the first I've ever read that made me cry. And not just a tear or two slipping out as I turned the last page, no. I was ugly crying halfway through and I had to stop for a bit because I couldn't see through my tears. This book is so beautiful. I wish they would require this to be read in schools because it is so relevant to our time and has so many great lessons to teach. I couldn't keep myself from being pulled in by the characters and how relatable they were. I don't have words fit to describe this book and I am disgusted by my understatements because this book deserves the highest praise. This is my one possession I would save if my house was on fire. This is the book I want to pass down to my kids, if I have any. This is the book that will drive people away because I can't shut up about it. And it deserves every bit of that glory. I'm going to stop now or I never will, but please read this. It has something for everyone to get out of it and it is such an important reality that we need to come to terms with.

Page Turner
Melissa K , Oct 19, 2021
This was a pager turner for me; I just needed to know how it ended. It's a fantastically written book. I have a difficult time following characters when it's told from multiple points of views' but Nijkamp kept them short making it easy. It's a very heartbreaking story; but there's a lot of beauty too..
