The research is good, everything else....not so much

The way the research was presented in this book was biased and incrediblynormative. The book on stress response and similar effects have a lot of information. I would not use this in any way to encourage young adults to get on birth control as it is not worth reading if you aren't interested. Some parts of the book are useful, however, I believe it is written in a way that will make them vulnerable. I suggest that you stick to the studies and research in the book.

Cognitive Dissonance to the Extreme
Derived From Web , Jul 4, 2020
The book has some helpful information about birth control that most people don't know about. I think it's really disappointing that this book went through a lot of harmful effects of the pill and still only tells you to talk to your doctor. Why doesn't it mention any other natural options that women can take, like the fertility awareness method? The book is a product of the medical scientific establishment that believes in pills. The author talks about how we don't ban steroids for men because of the harms, but still she says to talk to your doctor about taking it. The cognitive dissonance is very high.

Lifechanging

I heard Dr. Hill talk about this book. I ordered it by the time I got home. I was on the phone with my doctor by the end of the week. I had my IUD removed five days later. I woke up the next morning without a migraine for the first time in 2.5 years. After countless appointments with a physical therapist, a chiropractor, a masseuse, my GP, my OB, a neurologist, using essential oils and being on meds for years, my headaches stopped the moment the IUD was gone. I am still amazed by how little I know about my body and biology. Thank you, Sarah, for sharing this information. I am pain free. The scariest part of my experience was that no one thought my IUD could cause headaches. We need to demand better for ourselves.

An Evolutionary Psychologist with No Apparent Agenda
Derived From Web , Nov 1, 2019
There are long-term effects of hormones. They leave when the hormone has left it's mark. There are Organizational effects that are not gone after the hormone is removed. That is the science behind the book. The pill has a positive effect on the brain. According to the researcher, the pill may be linked to the sorts of men women get involved with, their satisfaction with their partners and even their likelihood of getting divorced. A good job was done by the evolutionary psychologist who did not have an agenda other than educating the readers.

A must read for women! Fun and relateable.
Derived From Web , Oct 8, 2019
It is the book for women who want to better understand hormones. The author does a fantastic job explaining scientific topics in a fun way. The same information is provided when you are talking to a friend instead of listening to a lecture. I have always thought it was great for all women, even if they were not from the same area. Oh, it's a must read!
