Book Overview

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn comes the story of Eloise Bridgerton, in the fifth of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring her charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix.

Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except . . . she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her . . . and more.

Did he think she was mad? Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met But then she started thinking . . . and wondering . . . and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except . . . he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was a large brute of a man, rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled . . . and when he kissed her . . . the rest of the world simply fell away, and she couldn't help but wonder . . . could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

I didn't expect a lot, though I was sure that Eloise was going to find her own path in the world. I am quite sorry that I did not have a propper conversation with Penelope, Hepburn said. I just love Crane and the whole scene with the Bridgerton Brothers, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winner Gillian Robeson said. I also enjoyed talking with Anthony Bourdain. There were some great love scenes, too. It was refreshing to have children in the book, too, Mr. Rule told the judge.
   great story
I was surprised to see how the book ended, but very happy with it, said Robin Swicord, executive director of AOL Europe. It was great to see the characters come together again, said Dr. Andrew Carnegie, director of Bridgestone's engineering division.
   Good book
This book is a great read. I've loved every bit of it. It was well written, and well planned out, said Mr. Dhaliwal.
   Eloise is the best
Even though my Favorite Book is Benedict's story, I really think Eloise is my favorite character. 0 262616 262616 I love that book even though my Favorite Book is Benedict's story.
What do we do when the series is done???
I'm hooked. It's just that I'm an an annoying character, but somehow Julia Quinn writes her book to be as interesting as the rest. Thanks to JQ, we have a new star.
After her brothers follow her, she becomes engaged to a man with twin boys.
The best of the series so far
I flew through this one, Tunick said. I thought it was original and very entertaining, said Blair.
   Must read
She is witty, smart and amazing enjoy this one very much.
New Year's Eve is all about the Bridgertons. That first kiss sets the tone for a good beginning, McBride said.
   Taking charge
His voice is so good, I'm not even trying to sound like Hepburn. What a woman of action, Williams said. I would love to be so bold as to take off in the middle of night to find my destiny, she said. Poor Phillip didn't know what he was getting into when he proposed to marry Meera. She is not the sort of person to wait for life to happen to her, she took steps to ensure it did happen the way she wanted it to happen. And it worked out in the end because Phillip and his children needed her and her take-charge attitude to make them into the happy family they needed to be.
