My class says, "Best Book Ever!"
I used it with my fourth-grade class while we were researching the American Revolution. Most of my students enjoyed the book because we were rooting for Ellen to do her mission, Mrs. Rule told the judge. It was also great to see Ellen grow from a shy and timid character into the heroine she becomes at the end of the story. My class thought this was a fantastic book and I'm happy we were able to bring it to life in the classroom, Mrs. Caramore said.

   Kind of Boring
Both my boys read this book and both rated it 2 stars. The book is not bad, but it is not great either. It took them two years to get into the game because it was too repetitive. Boring, hard to read, and often very long. Dad did like the bits of history, but my boys only thought this was ok. They also liked the bits of history, the Beatles said.

   Kept my daughter's attention
It was a book that kept my son's attention throughout the day. It was written well. Four stars because of the scope of the project, I'm told. I thought we would learn more about the American Revolution, he said.

Easy read for 8 yr old
It was a blast to read this book. She typically reads graphic novels and even comic books. I think it's great to be back home, she said.

   Excellent book.
One of the best historical fiction books we've ever read. There is one scene where a soldier is killed right in front of the kids which was a little shocking but I felt my 11 year old was ok to read it _ shows the true pain and hardship both sides endured during the Revolutionary War.

   Historical Fiction for Middle Grades
Based on the best-selling Toliver's Secret, the book is a fast-paced historical fiction aimed at middle-grade kids. It has a good amount of tension and does a great job of expressing the feelings of the patriots being occupied by the redcoats, Glover said. It's great for kids who are interested in history.

Good read aloud book for elementary school.
A good read aloud book for elementary school children. Strongly believes that children can do important things despite the odds. It's just that you never give up.

Simple tale of a young heroine
I chose to read it with a small group of 4th graders while we studied the American Revolution. It was a companion novel and gave us a lot to talk about, such as life in colonial New York, spies and soldiers on both sides of the war, Raymond said.

and 12) and I all enjoyed the story very much and I felt that it ...
I think that the story was told very well and I felt that it gave the children a unique insight into life during the American Revolution. The story was all the way through and kept the children looking forward to the next chapter each day, Mrs. Dhaliwal said.
