My class says, "Best Book Ever!"
Derived From Web , May 3, 2022
I used it with my fourth-grade class while we were researching the American Revolution. Most of my students enjoyed the book because we were rooting for Ellen to do her mission, Mrs. Rule told the judge. It was also great to see Ellen grow from a shy and timid character into the heroine she becomes at the end of the story. My class thought this was a fantastic book and I'm happy we were able to bring it to life in the classroom, Mrs. Caramore said.

Kind of Boring
Derived From Web , May 10, 2021
Both my boys read this book and both rated it 2 stars. The book is not bad, but it is not great either. It took them two years to get into the game because it was too repetitive. Boring, hard to read, and often very long. Dad did like the bits of history, but my boys only thought this was ok. They also liked the bits of history, the Beatles said.

Excellent book.
Derived From Web , Dec 15, 2019
One of the best historical fiction books we've ever read. There is one scene where a soldier is killed right in front of the kids which was a little shocking but I felt my 11 year old was ok to read it _ shows the true pain and hardship both sides endured during the Revolutionary War.

Simple tale of a young heroine
Derived From Web , Apr 23, 2018
I chose to read it with a small group of 4th graders while we studied the American Revolution. It was a companion novel and gave us a lot to talk about, such as life in colonial New York, spies and soldiers on both sides of the war, Raymond said.
