   Huge Success Story, Many Wonderful Hispanic Recipes
I can't wait to try all these recipes! Midwesterners tend to be slow to catch up with the new trends, even if they are trendy elsewhere. A great book, well worth the price of the book. I bought the Kindle version and am considering getting a paperback as well. I also really enjoyed hearing some great stories about Trejo's life before and after prison, including his time in the slammer. A wonderful cookbook with stories and great recipes with pictures, Mary Berry said. There are quite a few vegan recipes too. It was a surprise for me to find out that my daughter works in the plant industry and my nephew is a mason.
   Great cookbook
It was a present from my daughter-in-law. She even bought a copy for her nephew. Her family has made several dishes that her family and friends loved. We live in the Los Angeles area and now want to visit one of his restaurants. This is a great book, highly recommend.
   Tacos are life, but there’s so much more to this book
Only in the past few weeks have I read a book by this writer that I've never seen before. Beautifully laid out and totally approachable, this book is a useful tool and a fun read, too. In this book, Trejo introduces readers to simple, straightforward ingredients, noting what this or that is, what it does, how to use it—informative for the newbies and brief enough to not lose the attention of seasoned cooks. The recipes are versatile and delicious, with narrative vignettes between sections that are engaging and conversational, bringing the author's voice and enthusiasm into the kitchen with you.
We have only tried two recipes, but they have turned out amazing! Easy to follow, taste amazing!

   Excellent Recipes! Caution that Barbacoa Brisket has incorrect cooking time!
I have been inspired by the recipes in Danny Trejo's cookbook, which I saw on TV last year when the star of Bravo's Top Chef was a judge. I recommend his book to others who want to learn fine Tex-Mex cooking. Note that the cooking time in the recipe for Barbacoa Brisket is incorrect. At 325 degrees Farenheit, a 4 to 5 lb brisket should braise slowly for 3-4 hours, not 8 hours as indicated in the recipe. Only cook for 8 hours on the low setting, not an oven. If you think this is an editorial mistake, an expensive one if you make it. The charred interior of a brisket will result in a charred brick of shoe leather.
