I am really enjoying the C J Box "Joe Pickett" series because of the basic elements of honest law enforcement (at least on Pickett's part) and wildlife conservation along with relatable family dynamics and small town rural American culture. Never assume the obvious but always worth the pages between the assumed scenarios and the final twists. Always leaves me ready to get the next book.

A CJ Box Fan
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I purchased from C.J. all the books by Joe Pickett and read. I suggest that anyone who is interested in the books should read them in order... I suggest that anyone whose interest in the books is that they read them thoroughly. Joe is a family man first and will do anything to protect his family. The stories involve murder incidents that he gets involved as a game warden in Wyoming. I love the rustic, scenic atmosphere he deals with, et al... kind of a straight arrow who sometimes flies it, but wins in the end! I recommend the books to anyone interested in a good story, outdoor settings, et al.

A slow start - then Whammo
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I read all the Joe Pickett novels in order, which is absolutely essential to keep track of things as they develop, and found the first 3 books very engrossing. I was initially disappointed with Book 4, as the first 100-150 pages were a bit slow moving, but when things started happening, there was non-stop action with all sorts of twists and turns. Another good read :

A Review of Trophy Hunt - Joe Pickett Book 4
Derived From Web , Aug 8, 2021
Well C.J. Well C.J. Joe Pickett has written a mind blowing moving novel that brings up unbelievable challenges and danger to Box's Joe Pickett. The cattle mutilation that occurs can 't be explained by anyone and the complexity and surgical cleanliness of it defies who or what could have done it. The tensions between Joe, Sheriff Barnum, FBI - Agent Portenson make for additional tension. His friend Nate turns out to be his best friend. Heart pounding suspense and craziness add to the tension in this great story. C J Box fans will love it.

Good read
Derived From Web , Jun 25, 2021
We bought the Joe Pickett series to read them in sequence. Out of 21, we have read about half. Each has been interesting and each has been exciting. My husband has never liked reading, but can 't wait to sit down and read these C.J BOX books. I love the outdoors and I think he likes the flawed character of Joe Pickett. It is nice to read a book where the hero is not a superman, but an ordinary guy with integrity and a desire for justice.

C. J. Box has another winner

I continue my reading of the Joe Pickett series in order written. While each stands alone, the reader is never bored with the presentation of previous events from other books in the series. In fact, the inclusion of the previous events enriches the present story. Each novel reaches a quick ending and conclusion, with just enough of a hint to make the reader eager for the next installment in the series.

Trophy Hunt is hard to put down, but a little less satisfactory than the first three in the series.
Derived From Web , May 23, 2020
I love the setting in Wyoming because I am familiar with it and Joe and Marybeth Pickett are a great model couple. I found, however, the mysteries about the weird, murders, mutilations and paranormal family relationships a little hard to believe alone to enjoy. I read #5 and keep going since many reviews of future books are more convincing. I hope Joe sticks with Game Warden stories or even family adventures with his wonderful family more than getting into more Woo Woo stuff in future books.

Aliens in Wyoming?
Derived From Web , Dec 27, 2019
Not the best effort of the authors. The title had nothing to do with the story. Most civilizations have been left unexplained. The late but real wife? What do you think?

Well Written
Derived From Web , Apr 8, 2019
I'm becoming a real CJ box fan. Like his other books, this one is well written. I liked the characters, Joe, Marybeth, his daughters, and he included another Nate Romanowski. Nate is very mysterious and he adds some spice to the story. He carries a huge revolver and trainslives with falcons. Apparently he has some involvement with the U.S. Department of Defense, but we aren't sure if it is true of what is enigmatic. He is there to help Joe Pickett in difficult situations. This book is enigmatic. There is a supernatural quality associated with it. But the real problem is more real and Nate's help with Joe figures it out. These are well written books and are fun to read. I am now reading the next one.
