Book Overview

A Man Called Ove meets The Good Place in this delightful new queer love story from TJ Klune, author of the New York Times and USA Today bestseller The House in the Cerulean Sea.

When a reaper comes to collect Wallace from his own funeral, Wallace begins to suspect he might be dead.

And when Hugo, the owner of a peculiar tea shop, promises to help him cross over, Wallace decides he's definitely dead.

But even in death he's not ready to abandon the life he barely lived, so when Wallace is given one week to cross over, he sets about living a lifetime in seven days.

Hilarious, haunting, and kind, Under the Whispering Door is an uplifting story about a life spent at the office and a death spent building a home.

   Love it
Life lessons and philosophy. The story is warm and heartening. I also felt the same with his other stories.

   Another favorite from this author!
Klune is a great writer. One of the few authors I read where I don't write a single paragraph. I read every word because it's so touching, there's nothing superfluous, and the depth of the writing leaves many layers to uncover.

   Great!
I had to buy a second book because my dog destroyed my first. Witty and intriguing. Easy to read.

   Disappointing
I first read this book in hardback. The fly leaf was funny and I thought it would be a fun story. It was so bad that I couldn't finish it. I will not donate it. It was hard to do but it ended up in the trash.

Another exceptional story by TJ Kline
A remarkable story about death and life. A novel is worth reading again and again because of the rich characters and compelling narrative. Truly wonderful!

   Cannot get through this book
I should have devoured this book based on reviews and friends' recommendations. I tried both on audio and kindle, hoping to get to a better part, less boring and gloomier. So boring and slow! There is an unlikable character. I usually don't drop a book mid-way, but this is it.

   Absolutely beautiful
TJ Kline wrote an amazing story about dealing with loss. The growth that he infused into his character was inspiring and helped me process my own loss. This will most likely be a book that I have read many times before.
