   Jance's Best Character
JP Beaumont is my favorite Jance character and has been for a long time. I decided to read the first one after reading many in his series. It's a good introduction to the main characters. The first novel has them well developed. I like the setting and descriptions she uses for Seattle. Following novels touch on Anne Corley. We get a good amount of her here. It's a plot which is a little far- fetched, but a very enjoyable read. The reader can wonder what direction the climax will take. The epilogue written by Ms. Jance is a very good one.

   The Guilty One
I' ve been a fan of J.A. It was time to get a good read when I found this in my arsenal. I didn't think I was disappointed. Detective Beaumont was a fool for Anne in a lot of ways. He wasn't sure of Peters early on and at times resented his intrusion. He really appreciated him by the end of the book. You could see that they are a good team with Peters asking the right questions. I would like to find out what happened to the people who were in the church that Brodie was the pastor of. It was easy to sense something was not right with a particular character the first time they are introduced. I don't know if I thought about it all that much but I did question Beaumont's judgement. I don't want to give away something important to the story.

Her best I've read so far
I' ve read three or four others in the series, and this one is my favorite so far, though I do know it's the first one. They are all set in my hometown of Seattle, so they will be favorites for me. When you can see the scenes in your mind, the stories seem more realistic. Jance's great writing abilities are unaffected by that. It's an added attraction for me. Her books are easy to read. Everything is clear and characters' feelings are easy to understand. When written by Jance, I don't have to read it again. The book tells of Beau's life before all the other books in the series. It explains how a cop can become rich. I loved it!

   Great even a second time!
I' ve read a lot of books over the years. I'm looking forward to reading J A Jance. It's hard to put it down. I have been reading Until Proven guilty for 25 years or more. Over the years, the character JP has aged with me. You have to read this series. I like to read about the landmarks I can see in my mind. It was fun to read again.

   Mystery bookworm
Two Seattle detectives were assigned to find the killer of a 4 year old girl. Was Angel killed by one of the cult members? Beau and Peters are confused by two more killings. Beau is married to Anne Corley, who is romantically pursued by Beau. This mystery is a nail- biter because of the shocking ending. Excellent start to new series.

Prepared myself to dislike the ending
I looked up this author after reading another author's recommendation. Although it's not my usual type of story, I thought it was interesting. In the middle of the story, I was starting to wonder when this would end. I will be reading the next book by this author because the ending made sense.

   Soft core or mystery?
The book starts with a death, then goes into cult activity, and ends up with Beau and a lady in red having the best sex in the history of sex. I was not sure if I had bought a romance- bodice ripper book or a murder mystery. I think it's great for the detective to get such a weird and gorgeous girl. I can predict what's going to happen, but I'm not done yet. I' ll stick with Harry Bosch if I want good detecting.

Exciting start to the J. P. Beaumont series
In this book, we meet Seattle homicide cop, J. P. Beaumont and his new partner, Peters, as they investigate the death of a five year old girl. Beau met Anne Corley, who travels the country attending the funerals of child abuse victims. A strong partner relationship with Peters is built on religious cults, romance and the foundation of a strong partner relationship. There is an unexpected twist at the end. The series should be read in order.

Love at First Sight or Subterfuge Instead?
An excellent mystery was written by an author. Jance, who never fails me. I enjoy the few stories that I have read. I expect to read this one book. I have never met anyone like the characters that were horrendous. I like books because I relate to the characters. I got caught up in the twists and turns of the mysteries instead of the unique situations I was drawn to in this book. This series is very different from Ms Jance's other series. Not what I was expecting, but I am glad I found this series.

   Lady in Red
This is the beginning of J P Beaumont's career as a homicide detective. The story of his wife Anne was interesting to read. The death of a little girl who brought the lady in Red to town brings more to her life. There are several twists that keep you guessing who the killer is. The last few chapters of the book will make you want to read it again. Five stars were well earned.
