Universal basic income. A 15-hour workweek. Open borders. Does it sound too good to be true? One of Europe's leading young thinkers shows how we can build an ideal world today.
After working all day at jobs we often dislike, we buy things we don't need. Rutger Bregman, a Dutch historian, reminds us it needn't be this way-and in some places it isn't. Rutger Bregman's TED Talk about universal basic income seemed impossibly radical when he delivered it in 2014. His April 2017 talk continues to make the provocative case, detailing the idea's 500-year history and even its brief success in a forgotten trial in Manitoba in the 1970s. Nearly a million views later, guaranteed basic income is being seriously considered by leading economists and government leaders the world over. It's just one of the many utopian ideas that Bregman proves is possible today. It takes about 4 Hours and 4 minutes on average for a reader to read Utopia for Realists: How We Can Build the Ideal World. This is based on the average reading speed of 250 Words per minute.
Utopia for Realists: How We Can Build the Ideal World is 336 pages long.
We have all the tools we need

The book is thought- provoking. Our future as a planet with more and more people is going to require adjustments, and these ideas are better than any other. The myth of happiness in life and work has to be untangled along the way. We can enjoy life more if we work less and make things better for all. If you are always at work, what is the use of a big mansion? When we are on the wrong track, our lives tell us, but we only make the wrong adjustments and make the problem worse.

There are three societal changes that can improve our world. He describes a better world for all three cases. I would recommend this book to people discouraged by political movements.

Pie in the sky?
Derived From Web , Aug 22, 2018
Income equality is the biggest problem we face in the Americas. Since Reagan, the rich have been fighting against the middle class. Universal basic income, a shorter work week and open borders are discussed in this book. Taxing capital instead of labor and a transaction tax on Wall Street are some of the ideas being considered. Change can't come until we remove money from politics, take power away from corporations and special interest groups, and so on.
