Book Overview

English-Spanish bilingual editions of titles in Free Spirit's popular Best Behavior series.

The toddler years are full of growth and smiles and sweetness--but also tantrums. With toddlers, yelling, screaming, wailing, and flailing are a normal part of life. Very young children don't yet have the words to express strong feelings, and they're still learning social skills. This board book helps little ones understand why it's better to use an indoor voice--so people hear the words and not the yelling--and how to calm down and ask for help so they can get what they need. Also includes tips for parents and caregivers.

The Best Behavior series uses simple words and delightful full-color illustrations to guide children to choose peaceful, positive behaviors. Select titles are available in two versions: a durable board book for ages baby-preschool, and a longer, more in-depth paperback for ages 4-7. Kids, parents, and teachers love these award-winning books. All include helpful tips and ideas for parents and caregivers.

Very nice. Appreciate the parent section at the end.
We're still working on getting the toddler to stop yelling and screaming, but I think if we repeat reading this book and implement the strategies the end of the book we might be able to get somewhere, she said. Overall these are very high-quality made, the drawings are pretty, and the weather the story is written is really nice, too, he said. I'm hoping it helps, Mr. Dhaliwal said. We will be buying more from them, we think.

   Excellent message beautiful book!
A great book, Gillian. It also shows why we yell and why we shouldn't." A great book for parent and child to read together. Sometimes we need to be reminded that we are also purchasing the other books by this author.

   Good lesson for a toddler
My son is 2 1/2 years old and he is very good at yelling. We got this book along with hands are not for hitting to read to him when he has bad behaviour, said Dr. Goin. Even the most angelic toddlers can benefit from this because I have learned that even the most seemingly angelic ones are going through a phase at the age of two.

   Recommended for little learners.
This book is great for your little ones to treat others with kindness. We used to help our youngest siblings in how to communicate with one another. The books don't just tell you not to yell, it explained why and offered an alternative way to deal with such big emotions.

   Helpful teaching methof
It's just that the kids and I both have it memorized. I love that the words from this book have helped me understand and communicate with screaming children, Mrs. Booher said. I'm able to empathize with them about their emotions and use teaching moments to remind them of the ideas from this book, Raymond said. This book isn't for reading, it's for living, Cohen said. I try to be like the teacher in the book that days thank you for using your words, I will help you, Mr. Caramore said. Each book has tips for the caregiver in the last two pages. I highly recommend the entire series to all parents, teachers, or caregivers.

Our son *loves* this book - and it's had a huge effect in ONE WEEK!
We purchased this book shortly after buying another Best Behavior book, and seeing my son fall in love with it instantly. Amazon said it had received the book a week ago. Or, at least, remind him of his inside voice. He actually does the breathing trick that was described in the book. This is truly amazing, said Dr. Goin. My son absolutely loves the book and so do I.

   Olde Yeller Yells No More
The book arrived today and we've read it twice. I've had to call the police three times because my 4-year-old is a yeller. She has no interest in doing anything but enjoy the moment, which is sometimes all she can do. It's great to see such a passionate fan of the book. In a conference call yesterday, she said she was listening and thinking about what she was doing and why she was doing it. But she also said that although his biological parents are not making up, it is not just a concept that Mom and Dad are making up. This reinforces what we're teaching her and further encourages her to take control of her emotions," Coach Nancy Trapdoor said.

Wonderful Board Books - Clear Messages
This series is great for younger kids or kids that may need some reminders about basic conductmannershygiene, he said. Our son needs these reminders to help him navigate life in public school and he loves them. These are board books, so they hold up well to the love they will surely receive."

Focuses on being mad 'loud' instead of just 'loud'
This book seems to focus on not yelling just because you're mad, so I wish it had covered not yelling for any situation. Our toddler yells all the time whether he's happy, sad, excited or both.
