Book Overview

These are the stories America needs to hear about the remarkable young men and women who serve. - Admiral William H. McRaven, US Navy (Ret.). The most moving and powerful war stories ever told, by the men and women who lived them.

Walk in my Combat Boots is a powerful collection crafted from hundreds of original interviews by James Patterson, the world's #1 bestselling writer, and First Sergeant US Army (Ret.) Matt Eversmann, part of the Ranger unit portrayed in the movie Black Hawk Down.

These are the brutally honest stories usually only shared amongst comrades in arms. Here, in the voices of the men and women who've fought overseas from Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan, is a rare eye-opening look into what wearing the uniform, fighting in combat, losing friends and coming home is really like. Readers who next thank a military member for their service will finally have a true understanding of what that thanks is for.

   An awakening
As a Vietnam veteran, I did not understand the current conflict. The stories brought me back to the dark places we send our young people. The story of the flight nurse broke my heart.

Not one of my favorites by James Patterson
I am not really sure what I expected, but I was only able to get half-way through the book before I lost interest. I did not lose interest in the events, just the way they were presented, I guess.

An Excellent True Life View of US Combat Experiences
An excellent complication of short stories by combat veterans. Telling is the toll combat, which wreaked on service members and the subsequent return to civilian life.

Real testimony from those that served
This is a useless help from the brave warriors who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is amazing how many people, even when injured, wanted to go back. Our brave solders did not see bad things.

Short stories of true courage and love in wartime.
This is a collection of stories of men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces, who are true heroes and patriots. Many have sustained serious physical injuries. Their devotion to the cause of freedom and their brother is an example to everyone. This book influenced me to do better every day.

This is the closest some of us will ever get to battle.
I have ADHD and getting me to sit down a Tv program is a big deal, so I wasn 't sure about reading a book. This book is fantastic. Interviews are conducted by Combat Personnel first Sgt Matt Eversmann with military personnel, and they are brilliantly done because as a military man he speaks the language and knows what questions to ask. James Patterson then took the interviews and conflated them into 5 or 6 pages. The stories are real and raw and the reader can get a feel of what our military is going through on a daily basis with war zones. God bless each and every one of the people questioned, the people they refer in their interviews with, and both Mr. Patterson and Mr. Eversmann.
