Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

From the mountains of Connemara to friendly pub conversations, John O'Donohue had the ability to make the most numinous questions personal. Walking in Wonder: Eternal Wisdom for the Modern World shows that even though this beloved poet and philosopher is no longer among us, his words still breathe with vibrant life.
Including a foreword written by Krista Tippett and narration by John's brother Pat O'Donohue, this unabridged audiobook presents a collection of new teachings. Based on conversations over years with Irish broadcaster John Quinn, these selections include thoughts on the gifts of aging, our fascinating relationship with memory, and why we need not fear death.

  • Why the insights of mystics like Meister Eckhart are more relevant than ever in a world prioritizing image over substance
  • Contemplation of nature, its landscapes, and our intertwined relationship with both
  • A reading of one of the special dawn Easter masses given by John at Corcomroe Abbey
  • Poems and blessings in celebration of the ache of absence, imagination, and the turning of the seasons
  • Life's hidden narratives--whether in the history of mountains or your inner world

   Beyond wordsmithing
Many a time, we can only experience our reality as rigid fact and figures reporting, but to sculpt out of our imagination a vocabulary so lyrical and mystical that it heals our disorientation from our home, is pure gift from the two Johns.

   Defective Hardback Book
The book is missing pages 21-52 and is being replaced by a random section from Henri Nouwen's "The Seven Years That Changed the World." If you want to read the complete book, you might want to try the Kindle version.

   Quality leather and silver
Quality, toxin-free, soft leather that looks great on the skin. This vendor offers a huge range of sizes and styles of products, so it's no wonder it's such a sought-after item. It has a 4mm magnetic clasp, which is also used with this item.

Well written, inspiring, and just beautiful.
It's just that good. It's to know they're also others who think and feel the way the author captures the world and enrichment in conversation.

   Beautiful soul
I enjoyed reading John O'Donahue's thoughts. Great images, Mr. Dhaliwal said. He died too soon, Mr. Rule told the judge.

   Gorgeous
A profound thinker with an uncanny gift for words, Raymond said. It's great to be back home with my family, said Dawn Mass, who works in the music business.

   Kind and Necessary Words
Kind of and necessary words for our times, Michael Schweer said. The work is a compilation of audio interviews with O'Donohue so it doesn't go deep on some topics and some of his phrasing is repetitive because he is speaking off the cuff. Anyone who wants more can pick up the lovely books O'Donohue wrote before he died. But this book is a refreshing quick read when one needs a reminder of light and what is important.

Even better than I thought it would be
I was predisposed to love this book after reading it by John Updike. It was a blast of energy, and Spike Lee was there to remind us why people love him. It was actually more illuminating than I expected, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

Warm cozy fire with a treasured friend
