   Not 4 everyone.
It was originally written as a children's book, but later became a bestseller. On the other hand, if one understands that and appreciates the prose, structure and beauty of this book, it will be a great read. If one ever has a chance to see the stage production, do it.

   but a great YA read
Substantially different from the movie, it's a great YA read. I would probably use it for a class if I had the time. Gives them a good, but age-appropriate introduction to WW1. The book is a great read from the horse's point of view.

Read War Horse to your child
Before he was sold to the military and put into service in World War I, he was a champion racehorse.

   Can't wait to see movie
Thanks to the librarians at Carnegie Library, I was able to borrow the entire book. Realizing this, I went back to the original Kindle version. This story was worth the read. Then I laughed out loud a couple of places and had tears streaming down my face in others.

   Awesome, Awesome and more Awesome
This is a wonderful book, and a great story, too. Funny how they made it into a movie. It's a thriller, full of suspense, Gillian. It's great to hear a story about a war hero. His owner, a British woman, fell in love with the dog and the two became inseparable.

   Keep the Tissues Handy
The story is told thru the eyes of the horse as he's taken to the trenches to fight during World War I and his trials and tribulations as he longs to return home to his owner.

War Horse by Michael Morpurgo (Hardcover)
It was the paperback version of War Horse by Jane Austen that really caught my eye. For a Christmas present, I ordered the complete set, movie dvd, and the book plus the pictorial movie book of making of the movie by director Steven Spielburg. The horse people were so pleased with this present, they said. A passionate advocate of the academy, War Horse is highly recommended.

War Horse - A Kindle book
Passengers are encouraged to read the book while on a cruise. It was an intriguing story, and I understand the popularity of that story. The book was clearly written for a younger audience, so it was a quick read, Morgenthau said. It was a breath of freesh air to read a story that was clearly focused, and did not resort to a lot of filler, Kerry said. It's great to be back home, said Blair.

Fantastic Audiobook as Performed by Dan Stevens
The story is told from the point of view of the horse. Even though I was worried that this book would prove too sad for me, the story was engaging. The strangeness of listening to a story voiced by a horse quickly dissipated, and all the characters came to life as the horse passed from handler to handler, immersing the listener in the story and time period. I would gladly listen to him read the phone book, Mr. Rule told the judge. He also stars in a revival of Frankenstein and a host of other Agatha Christie novels.

A Horse Is Not Just A Horse
Matthew Tucker, winner of the 2002 Young Horse Award, said: "War Horse is about a horse. The book tells the story of how the horse came to be a star, working on a farm and then fighting in World War II. It's also about the different people that the horse lives with and how they treat him, Tunick said. It's also about the friendships that the horse has with the people that help him and with other horses," Shumaker said. I'm not ashamed to admit that I was a horse fan. Cool kid, he was really different, Strauss said. He seemed really strong and he worked hard, he never gave up, he said. All of the characters were real, Morgenthau said. They looked so real because of everything they went through, Sosa said. There were some that went to war, some that worked on a farm, some that got sick and some that died, Mr. Stackhouse said. It kept me guessing, but I think the story was correct. The way the characters had different things happen to them, you didn't know what was going to happen next.
