   Meticulously researched text, written in an easy to understand manner
This non-fiction picture book shares twelve descriptions of native American truths that most students, as well as many adults, may not be aware of such things as relocation, termination and allotments. The colorful folk art style illustrations captures the reader's attention, while the meticulously researched text, written in an easy to understand way, helps us understand what happened after the treaties ended in 1871 with the US government. It is a book to use during the study of Native Americans history and also during the celebration of the United States for students 4-8. Finally, don 't miss the extremely detailed back matter, which includes a glossary and a detailed timeline.

   Stop and read ASAP!
This is a book that every person needs to seek out immediately! The reader learns important aspects of history, law, policies and challenges of Indigenous people through the course of the story. While history is horrific, the message is not affirming, but part of the downtrodden and part rally cry in the repetition of the phrase We Are Still Here! Too often, indigenous culture and history is either ignored or glossed and categorized as a misleading folk-version that aligns with white culture.

In this book, a lot of information is not included in history textbooks. The concept of presenting presentations for a class was interesting, but it felt like it was just listing information.
