By packets '' they really mean sections that can be photocopied and put together as packets. This is a black and white workbook with organized lessons planned before. Each page is designed to take no longer than a few minutes to set. Each packet '' is designed to take no longer than a week. This book could be used for teaching a lesson or for practicing a lesson, but on its own I don 't think it is enough to be used as a lesson. I also want to note that the book I received has a perfectly acceptable ink quality.

   Perfect
My young son gaining confidence by the day. He fought before to get this book. He knows that he is able to read the directions with little assistance and we are only 40 pages into it. You have 5 pages per learning activity and 5 pages of his lesson, they really grasp the lessons learned. Job well done... Note as a parent... you have to practice with them... This isn '' a book to figure it out just for them. You will see results, but you need to engage with learning.

   5 STARS!! But 1 wish…
This is a GREAT packet of vitamins! It has reviews and lots of practice!! My kiddo, who does not like language arts, really likes this so far! BUT... BUT '' I wish I could tear the lessons... pages 1-5 of each lesson. Each day Is like to give him just those pages, but they are not separated, Lesson 2 starts on the back side of Page 5 of Lesson 1. Very frustrating! But in all a great program ''! Scholastic usually does a great job at a great rate! We have several books written by them!! We have several books by them! Update.... Update... Yes, changed to 5 stars, yes, I still wish pages were perforated and I could tear out for each 5 page lesson, but my kiddo LOVES this style and it REALLY works! This will last for us only about a month, but is excellent! We are looking for more like this! We are looking for more like this! '' Happy mama! -happy mama!

   Easy
I love this book! '' My son loves using it every day. I love that there is a space for name and date as he gets to practice both on every worksheet. We are in the third packet and it has been a lot of fun just being there. There is enough diversity that he doesn 't get bored to do all 5 worksheets for a packet in 1 day. There are drawing pictures, connecting lines, writing, rhyming, filling in bubbles and more. I recommend it for a simple way to add a number of worksheets without having to search all over the internet to find the right things.

Not what I was looking for
This book will not teach you what you need to know. It really reads like a random assortment of worksheets, and not a program to progress through. Maybe the worksheet format isn 't the best way to accomplish what needs to happen. There is some sense of introducing skill and some sense of assessing skill. But it is not teaching in the sense of a teacher that you child to read in 100 easy lessons or the logic of the English series. I was looking for a week by week guide to teach. These exercises seem to be more like busy work.

   Decent
Not fond of the fact that this is not color-related, even my daughter asked why there was no color. Apart from that, no complaints were received.

The print is very low ink, almost photocopied.
I shop on the original website constantly, but this book is not a Scholastic product. The photocopy book is total. The print is very light or faded and sometimes it looks blurry.

   Great book
Love this book by using it as a little bit of extra for kindergarten. It has stuff in it that is more advanced for like 1st and 2nd grade and such. But we have not gotten to this part. We are moving slow in the book because it is an additional practice book for my kindergartener on top of his normal school book. Easy to fallow the book and great practice for them.
