My son is in 2nd grade and he is the perfect age for this series, said Dr. Mark. Weinshall of the Cleveland Clinic. We read them aloud when he was 5 and 6 and they held his attention, but they were too long for him to read. 0 1862217 This kid's not even reading today." The entire book is spent building up to the fight, so I wish the fight itself lasted longer than 2 1/2 pages. Even in the blink of an eye, the ball is over. I do like that they are a little open-ended, Raymond said. Even if the book is over, it makes for some good discussion afterward. This is a great series for kids who like non-fiction.

Love the paperback

The book was on the tube and my son told me he wanted it because he loves whales and squids. He was really excited when he opened the box and the book was in there, he said. Not surprisingly, he's been reading it to himself. He also said that the pages are easy to turn. Brand new York is an excellent value for money.

Too short
Derived From Web , Aug 1, 2020
I was trying to find books to entertain my child during lockdown, but this didn't do it. I tend to agree because it was very short and the action was limited to just 2 pages at the end. It might be better for kids in kindergarten, however, if a parent will likely need to help them with some of the difficult words, which diminishes the independent reading value of the book. It's just that we're not that good at math.

The second book in the series, "The Fifth," was also published this month. It's great to see the kids' faces light up when they see the unicorn. I have to admit that these two books are the most popular in my class.

Lots of interesting facts
Derived From Web , Mar 22, 2019
This is a cute educational booklet. It explains the hunt for a whale oil before the use of petroleum and even talks about the whale's echolocation system, which is used to detect explosives. It mentions that squids are mollusks and even discusses the classics, Dick Moby and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It's pretty good for a kid's book, too.
