   Still awesome.
I had this when I was 4 and gave it to my oldest daughter when she turned 4 a number of years ago. I got this one for my oldest and she loves it as much as I and my youngest did. The only thing that bothered me is that it is abridged. Not sure why there has to be an abridged version of this classic for the little ones, but it is still awesome, just a little less so.

   Where is the Unabridged version???????
I have a record with the original reading of this book by Carol Channing for those of you who remember it. I read this book with my 3 and 4 year old to the old record and stopped after about 5 stories the record matched the book. Then I discovered that it was abridged. I've been pretty upset ''. I send the book back and look for an unabridged version. I wish the publisher would provide an unabridged version for us Huckle lovers. I gave it a three star because of how much it was shortened. They didn't abridge the text of the stories, but deleted whole stories on a wholesale scale.

   Great book
My 3 12 year old grandson and I love this book. We usually read about 1 or 2 of the different stories about many jobs and things that people do. Typical Scarry drawings, with LOTS of activities, are shown here.

   Great book.
In our home, we're a little obsessed with Richard Scarry. The images, the silly story and just all the pages - my 4-year-old loves the book. It is fun to read or browse just about.

   Love it
Great for readers who move past a sentence on a page are great. The pages are packed with scenes and bits of dialogue, so that you can stare for ten minutes at a page.

Buy it and enjoy for years to come
One of my favorite books growing up for my grandchildren is now buying copies of those wonderful favorite books for my children. Why don 't they write and publish books like this anymore? Detailed and fun drawings on every page -- I sometimes remember saying to one of my children when they chose this book for story time, well, we 'll read a part of it. Kids love it, and never grows old. Give your children grandchildren a great start in reading by seeking and buying these older, well-written, not politically correct books. Let them be grown-ups and enjoy life without wrestling with children!

I know this book by heart now.
If it drives you crazy to read the same book over and over again, don 't buy this one. It is almost an addiction for my four-year-old son, who loves to find out how things work. This is the perfect book for such curious munchkins and, if you don 't watch out, you might learn a thing or two yourself! In a heartbeat, I'd buy this again.
