Lively metaphors and humorous illustrations make the concepts and strategies easy to understand, while clear how-to steps and prompts to draw and write help children to master new skills related to reducing anxiety. This interactive self-help book is the complete resource for educating, motivating, and empowering kids to overcoming their overgrown worries.

Engaging, encouraging, and easy to follow, this book educates, motivates, and empowers children to work towards change. Includes a note to parents by psychologist and author Dawn Huebner, PhD.

From the Note to Parents:

If you are the parent or caregiver of an anxious child, you know what it feels like to be held hostage. So does your child. Children who worry too much are held captive by their fears. They go to great lengths to avoid frightening situations, and ask the same anxiety-based questions over and over again. Yet the answers give them virtually Read More chevron_right

Buy this book. Really. It's that good.
The book should be read by every child. Not only one is that worry. The techniques it teaches are very specific. It's good for everyone. Adults need the same skills. I still use the 15 minutes to worry in the morning after reading this book to my daughter. This has been wonderful for her, she is in 1st grade. We loved all three of them. My daughter wants the one on bad habits, but I can't pick one over the other. I am going to get it because I am sure it will help her and me. We don't need to own the book in our home because we have quality books at our house. We have to purchase books for things we want to do again and again. This is not a store book. Was this review useful? Please press yes so I can get your feedback. Thank you.

   Highly recommend
I love this book because I am a therapist. It is clear enough for parents to use with their children. Parents might find some useful tools for themselves. Highly recommend for kids with anxiety.

Excellent resource for kids who worry
I have used cognitive-behavioral techniques with clients who are teenagers and adults to overcome worry. I was not sure how to approach the issue with children, but this book is great. The author does a great job of explaining what worry is, what it feels like, and how to fight it. The language is appropriate for children and there are many ways for children to express their feelings. He asked to read another chapter. We have seen a change in our son's demeanor since we read this book with him. I am happy.

After going through the entire book with her (a pure joy to read by the way and kids do illustrations ...
This is a must for any child who is worried. I've learned a lot from this book. My daughter was able to manage her anxiety after we worked through the techniques in the book and applied them. Her anxiety was at a minimum after she read the entire book with her. It's amazing. If you have this unfortunate situation with your kids, you must buy this.

   Great book
I use this with small groups in school. What it feels like, how to manage it, and so on are some of the things it looks at. I recommend this for kids with anxiety.

Very helpful for children with worries and anxiety
I bought this for my 6 year old who has been experiencing anxiety for the past few months. She loves answering the questions in the workbook. It gave her parents a better idea of where her worries come from and how we can help her. It gave her a better idea of how her worries affect her. I recommend this to anyone with a child who has a lot of worries.

   Big difference in short time
We haven't finished the book yet, but I feel like we've found something great. My 8 year old son started public school a few weeks ago after being homeschooled for the past few years and he was having a hard time adjusting. He said his tummy hurt every morning and that he didn't want to go, and his teacher said he was having crying spells every day. We were lost and I was looking for books that could help. The difference in him is amazing even though we are only about 4 chapters in. I contacted his teacher the other day to check on how he was doing and she said the tears have stopped and he seems happier than he was a week ago. He no longer complains of tummy ache in the morning. Things are looking up. This book is a must read for me.

Teaching our littles all about anxiety
My daughter was helped by this workbook in understanding anxiety. The section on how to talk back to worry monsters was great. Very happy with the purchase.

   Introduces more potential anxieties
I am glad I read this before giving it to my granddaughter. She would have been given a treasure trove of new things to worry about if she had been given so many specific alternative paths of worry. I put the book back in the package after reading it in horror. I don't think it's a good idea for younger kids who don't need any extra worrying suggestions, as it may be good for a child on the older side of the recommended age range.

Really helped my anxious 8 year old
My daughter has always been an anxious child, but recently started having trouble sleeping. There was nothing that would ease her fears of being covered in blood or someone climbing her second story window. I wanted to get to her so I bought this book. I have had four nights of sleep since she finished the book. It's easy for her to read and find ways to defeat her worry.
